Tiger, because he has had a huge effect on much more than golf at this point. Although that is probably mostly due to the higher amount of media forms available today.

I'm rooting for Tiger. He's achieved amazing results in a time when the competition is very hard.

The ignorance of the voters in this poll is gobsmacking. Tiger Woods isn't even comparable to Jack yet. Jack won 18 majors against several players that were ALL TIME GREATS: Player, Trevino, Watson, Palmer. Tiger Woods has been struggling to beat a geriatric qualifiers in the US Open. What kind of joke competition is that? Davis Love is even a threat to win the whole thing(not an in**** to Love, frankly I'm hoping he wins)! I mean, two complete nobodies leading the field on the first day??? On the third day, we saw several of these nobodies 3 putting 5 to 10 foot puts. That's pathetic even for an amatuer. Zach Johnson wins the matsers and nothing else? WTH? And even against his crappy compition Tiger still has NEVER won when he was behind the leader on day four.

Sorry, Tiger Woods is the greatest hype ever, not the greatest golfer. Hell, I'd even put Snead over him, and maybe even Player. Everyone would be cutting into Tiger's rep if he were white, saying that it's "boring" now Tiger has deathlock on number 1 spot just like they were doing with Federer dominating Tennis, but at least Federer's main rival is the greatest clay courter ever. Tiger's greatest rivals are the greatest chokers ever.

Uhh, if that's your main criteria, then your greatest player would be Arnold Palmer. Again, this ridiculous comment conveys the general ignorance of the voters.

Majors and total wins is not a very good metric of all-time greats. Many boxing fans do not consider Rocky Marciano the grreatest heavyweight ever despite that by the numbers he cleary is/was. Dan MArino is still one of the greatest all time quarterbacks despite NEVER winning a super bowl. Everything needs to be interpreted in context. Here is some context:

Jack's greatest rivals total: Gary Player 9 major wins Tom Watson 8 major wins Arnold PAlmer 7 major wins Lee Trevino 5 major wins Tiger's greatest rivals: Phil Mickelson 3 major wins Vijay Signh 3 major wins Ernie Els 3 major wins geoff ogilvy? Who? A whole litany of one-slam wonders? 1 major slam Even though this is a somewhat unfair comparision because some of these players still have a decent chance at adding major wins to their resume, it really does convey the incredibly anemic competition that Tiger faces.

tiger makes the putt to still be in the running for the best golfer of all time, i thought finally iacas was going to close this thread as the matter would be settled but tiger came through

After watching today...Tiger is just the man. Magic or just plain good playing. What he does is not considered playing golf.

I do give it up to Roco. I love his personality and the way he just is out playing around of golf. So it happens to be at Tori and the US Open. Roco could be the "ringer" in your scramble team or 2nd place in the US Open.

And he still won't be the best golfer ever

âI'm glad I brought this course, this monster, to its knees.â

First post, glad to be here.

I am not old enough to have seen Jack play in his prime, as many here are not, but I think it's safe to assume Tiger is the best.

He treats this differently than anyone before. Someone else will do everything Tiger has done plus a bit more, and they may be better (hard to see how though).

    • Going to a Friendsgiving tomorrow and I am bringing a no-bake cheesecake. I make the crust too big, but I think it turned out good. The filling is really good.
    • Sure, but how was your alignment? 🙂 Day 53 - 2024-11-22 Mirror work after getting back home. Wife is a superstar for her career/job/whatever.
    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
    • Day 128: played 9. Nice little even 9, with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys.
    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
