Usual "injured reserve" routine. Putting (three to six feet) and chipping/pitching around the fringe. I'm going to get a proper putter fitting today and see if that's worthwhile.

Stretch.

Working on a Push-Draw at the moment. It comes and goes but I have hit a few just have to make it more consistent.

No offense but does a 20 handicapper really need to work on a push draw? My guess is you'd probably benefit from hitting it straight.

Waiting out the 2 feet of snow that just dropped on the course....

I am on my third round of golf lessions and am now working on getting my swing to be longer. I just got past getting more forward with my body. The problem I have had is thinking to much. My instuctor wants me to move on from something that I have fixed ie.. getting more forward. I think I have to many swing thougts which makes a big mess. I would say I am not doing very good at it, because I have been impatient with learning this sport. I practice a lot and just want to start playing better golf. I usually shot about 96 to 103. I want to be below ninty every time I go out and its been frustrating.

I have a high handicap and I have have found personally that making all my shots a draw helps me to square the club and give the ball purposeful direction. My golf instructor wants me to hit everything right to left.

I am currently working on trying not to hold the lag in my club as long, I previously was not holding my lag long enough now I am over holding it. I am hitting just ever so slightly behind the ball, which is causing me to loose 15 yards in my PW-4, hitting it 135yds-200, instead of my normal 150yds-210yds. I invested in the pure ball striker, have yet to get to try it, been about 28* outside in PA here the past couple of days. So hoping it does some good.

On my driver having issues acquiring the right launch angle. Hitting the ball about 285 yds average, would like to have that at 300. So Ill be working on hitting up on the ball a bit more.

And lastly Ill be working on getting into shape, need to loose multiple pounditos and firm up the core.

Still working on the basics chapter from the B&P; text. I believe I have the weight forward down, and I'm pretty sure I'm getting my left shoulder down. Now I'm working on hands in, although I'm almost always hitting either straight or a fade, leading me to believe I'm not doing it right. I suppose I should integrate some "hands straight through impact" into this too.

The Pure Ball Striker will definately help with your problem. Although, I dont believe that holding your lag too long is causing you to hit it fat. You may be too close to the ball, or your release is a bit off.....may be 'chasing' it or flipping, basically just releasing too early. All of this will be learned and corrected with The Pure Ball Striker! Best of luck to you!

Filmed my swing the other night, noticed my clubface is REALLY closed at the top, and that my grip is way too strong. Also that my head moves a lot on my downswing through impact. Getting out to the range tomorrow to work on those 3 things and see if I can stop hooking or pushing the ball ;)

Here's what I'm working on lately:

1.  Good turn on the backswing.  Get the right shoulder back and the left under my chin.  Let the left knee kick in and the right knee straighten.  Don't turn the lower back but keep the abs and core tight there.  Don't let the arms get too high either.

2.  Get the head and body moving downward a bit on the downswing.  Do a little more of a Snead/Hogan squat.

3.  Open the shoulders more at address.  This helps me get the right ball position for impact, where my shoulders are pretty open.

4.  Working on getting some fast-twitch speed with the driver after focusing on a slow/accurate swing for so long.  I adjust the swing by dropping the right foot back a tad, teeing the ball up higher and forward, and taking a slightly stronger grip.  Then I try to get the club just a touch past parallel and keep my spine angle on the downswing while swinging as hard as I can.  I'll max at 126 if I let myself lose my spine angle, but it's around 119 if I keep everything solid.  Big improvement over the 114 last year that dropped to 105 this year.

5.  Dialing in a low sand wedge.  Completely addicted to the thump and watching the ball check.

6.  Always working on keeping the sequencing good and driving the downswing with my lower abs and hips.  This requires a lot of tempo work too.

7.  Putting eye-line.  I found my right eye was a little across the line causing a bit of a slice putt.  Getting it square to slightly inside to create more of a drawing putting stroke.  Other than that, getting used to my new putter.

Getting into shape, my golf season starts in late april, so i got about 4.5 months, i want to loose at least 10-15 lbs before then, and gain some flexibility back. Mys wing is close, need to get it in the slot better in the downswing, but i can tweak that early in the season. Right now if i try to swing i a club if feels like i cant get any rotation at all, to stiff.

Accuracy into greens.

I hit most of the greens in regulation but, not into the right spot on the green, leaving me long birdie putts. If I can get these closer to the pin, I should make more birdies.

    • I dont know if I really have a favorite, but there are two that have stuck in my mind for a very long time. #15 at Erie Golf course during the Finals of the EDGA Matchplay. Was up early and then lost a few holes in row so the match was close again. My opponent had a short putt for birdie. I hit past hole high, but 35 feet right. I drained the putt and looked over at my opponent who was in disbelief.   #8 at Whispering Woods during another year of the EDGA Matchplay. Was playing a very cocky opponent who made sure to mention on the first tee how many times he won the club championship at this course. I hammered this 30 footer that clanked off of the pin and dropped. My opponent was disgusted and that made me weirdly happy. I went on to win 5&3 or something like that, so that entire day has stayed in my memory.
    • Day 20: Did 30 minutes after getting home from work, before kid's baseball practice. This session was piecing out the new hip move in transition, doing 2-3 rehearsals from the top, and then hitting a ball from between P5/P6. Did another 45 minutes after baseball practice and dinner. Did 30 more minutes of what I did earlier, and then about 15 minutes of full swings trying to incorporate athletically.
    • Day 296: did a stack session.
