Hey guys!

For the past couple days I've been working on a new website, and even though I know it's incredibly tacky and against the rules to post it here, I'm going to do so anyway, even though a moderator will delete my links and I may be punished if I continue. I thought you would enjoy this one, so hear it is!

One of the best parts of golf are the movies producers put up. Believe it or not, there's hundreds of quality, fun-filled, dramatic, or romantic golf movies. As Oscar upon Oscar overflows the directors, take a seat and read our list of the best golf movies ever made....

Let me know what you think! looking forward to it!

Without looking at the link, I'll tell you, there are only 4 golf movies you need in your library..... - Caddyshack - The Greatest Game Ever Played - The Legend of Bagger Vance - Tin Cup Truth be told, you could get by with the first two...... And before it happens, I'll go on record right now and opine that anyone who even mentions Happy Gilmore should be immediately banned!

In David's bag....

Driver: Titleist 910 D-3;  9.5* Diamana Kai'li
3-Wood: Titleist 910F;  15* Diamana Kai'li
Hybrids: Titleist 910H 19* and 21* Diamana Kai'li

I love Happy Gilmore , but no way would I put it higher than Caddyshack . Good call on the The Greatest Game Ever Played top spot though, I find myself watching part of that movie every time I come across it on Golf Channel-I'd say that movie and Caddyshack are tied for best in my book.

Did I miss something? You said Kevin Costner was in Happy Gilmore. Hmmm. I don't remember him in that movie.

Is this supposed to be a joke?

Is it me or is it really rude, not simply "tacky", to go and post links to your own website in the forums of another website hat has SPECIFIC rules against promoting outside sites and products?

Someone do that in this thread?

Would it be outlandish of me to say that there really aren't any great golf movies? Those are probably the four best, but I don't really love any of them.

Not at all ... Totally agree. GGEP is the best for me, and it's just "pretty decent." Caddyshack has been somewhat overplayed ... At least to the point that I just roll my eyes everytime I hear somebody say "..., which is nice." ;)

I had high hopes for Golf in Kingdom but only made about 10 mins in before I made a snap judgement ("This is CRAP", I said to myself) and turned it off. I never got around to giving it a second chance.

Slightly off topic but when I started looking around for a golf forum to hang out on the first one that interested me was The Shivas Irons Society, I figured that it HAD to be a cool site. Sadly they missed the mark as badly as the movie did.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

I think the same about almost all sports movies. For me it's probably that actors have a very hard time duplicating the mechanics of professional athletes. Every time I see an actor swing a golf club, baseball bat, or throw a football or baseball when they are supposed to be portraying a professional I cringe a little.

That said, I still enjoy them enough to watch.

P.S. I think Kevin Costner comes closer to looking natural in baseball or golf than most actors. Can't say the same for Don Johnson or Mat Damon, although I think they are good actors.

Yeah, I edited @Kelzzy 's first post before merging it into this thread since it was basically "go read my blog article!"

Happy Gilmore.

I think Tin Cup is TERRIBLE and I shudder every time I see it on the Golf Channel. Greatest Game is getting old too.

We need more golf movies.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
