Holy shit Game Of Thrones! I knew that was coming, but thank you for surprising a jaded tv viewer on the sheer level of brutality!!! I've been watching Being Human. It's good, aside from the budget. The werewolf is pretty cheesy looking.

Funny penis metaphors last night on Game of Thrones:

Have you seen it? Seen what? His pillar and two stones :-O

Your penis is so small,  I thought it was a hangnail. Ouch! :-O

Just when you thought they must have shown all forms of the worst possible brutality already.... your new favorite character's head explodes - jeez!

This is the show that killed off much loved Ned Stark in season 1 while his daughter watched. I understand why people are so upset, it means the showrunners did a good job, but it's not a precedent, although the manner in which it happened was brutal. We all knew anyone could die.

Now I know why when Hodor crushed a skull in a previous episode this season, they didn't show it.

In a way, I wish I could forget the books and be dumbfounded slack jawed.

A guy I know thought the same thing. Apparently, he forgot the "revenue" part of the whole "owning a business" ordeal. Eventually, giving out free bottles of champagne to the "hottest girls in the bar" and free shots, drinks and food to family/friends caught up with him and he's back to the 9-5 life paying off some outstanding loans. Go figure!

Finished Silicon Valley. Those reviewers I read who said the quality dipped, disagree. It was pretty consistent in terms of quality, it got better imho. The last episode, the "twist" was a little deus ex machina, but not totally unbelievable and I enjoyed the 1st season thoroughly. It won't be the same with a different Peter Gregory next season though. That actor was so funny, so passive aggressive. Thank you Mr. Florida. Ha ha. And the dick problem on the whiteboard. It actually made lots of sense. I guess that's a play on interview questions like guess how many barbers there are in the US. I hate those interview questions. If two or more people ask me those, I want to run from that place.

Any guess as to who the two billionaires are based on? Peter Gregory, not so sure, but the other guy seems like Ballmer.

I thought GOT was okay this week.  Lots of fighting, and more fighting, and giants!  But nothing blew me away like the Oberyn/ Mountain showdown from week before.  It's been a quick ten weeks, although it always seem that way.

My wife just finished LOST, and all she could say was, "Okay, I'm lost".

I recently downloaded a firefox app to let me switch countries on Netflix.  I seem to spend more time looking at what they have than actually watching anything.

Hola? That's the thing with these streaming services. There's so much sometimes you just get paralyzed. But having experienced an era with channels 2-13, I'll take what we have any day.

I completely agree that this show got better as it went on.  I really liked it.

I really like GOT.  I would probably put it as my #3 show all time.  But in a way this season has really dragged on, uncharacteristically, after the poisoning of Joffrey.  There have been a lot of exciting moments, like the trial, the trial by combat, the battle of castle rock, but the lack of resolution to Tryion's situation after about 2 months (jofrrey killed, not much the following week, then the trial, then a bye week, then not much happened, then the trial by combat, then castle black...) is killing me.  I think it hurt the battle of castle black because I'm really excited to see what happens with Tyrion and until I do, I'm disappointed by anything else.

I also really like how the many different story lines adds such incredible depth to show, but it results in too much stalling of story lines.  Arya got to the Veil two weeks ago and we still don't know if she actually went in or turned around at the gate because Liza is dead.  Stanis got funding from the bank weeks ago and we have no idea what he's been up to since.

These are all things that shows often do, but what made this show special was that they didn't do those things.

One more episode... One more episode...

Silicon Valley: could be Peter Gregory based on Peter Thiel and Gavin based on Salesforce CEO. That noise Gregory makes. So funny. And the thing with Burger King and sesame seeds was awesome. And the skinny car.

Gonna be interesting to see what they do without him. I thought the writing for this season got much better towards the end.

Quote:
Some of the characters are clearly based on real, identifiable people.

As others have pointed out , it’s easy to see a little bit of Peter Thiel in the libertarian angel investor Peter Gregory, and it’s not a stretch to imagine Hooli CEO Gavin Belson being based on enterprise software magnate and philanthropist Marc Benioff.

Since it's been a week or so since I've logged on (been busy as crap!), I'll just agree with the last couple weeks of GOT being crazy and awesome!

I did finish season 1 of Sons of Anarchy a few days ago and started season 2. It took me a while to get through the first part of season 1 - not because I didn't like it. However, the more I watch the more and more I am liking it!
