In honor of this thread I treated my wife to some Del Taco tonight.

Trust me, that's not the least romantic gesture I have ever done

By the way...here's one you might want to avoid:

I'm pretty sure that's the #2. It sure is a bum wrap.

Isn't that just a hot dog?

Only if it were made of pigeon, rat, human hand, and actual dog.

I still say Fuddruckers is not fast food. I've been going there since I was a young child, and it never really satisfied that fast food prerequisite to me. First off, many Fuddruckers have real cups, and despite the format, it's not a booth and take out type place, as are fast food restaurants. To me, "fast food" is food that's meant to be eaten away from the building. A drive through is pretty much an automatic sign of fast food. McDonalds, for example, didn't even have a way to eat in for many years. In most fast food places, the dining room is a secondary addition. At Fuddruckers, the dining room is the primary function of the restaurant.

Any place where you wait in line to order and the menu is on the wall behind a cashier is fast food, regardless of the speed, delivery process, or even the awesomeness of said food.

Nah-I'm with Shanks on this one. It's hard to set a general rule, might have to be determined on a case by case basis. Something similar to the Supreme Court's evaluation of whether or not something qualifies as pornography-"I know it when I see it." In this case Fuddruckers is definitely not fast food.

We had one in Edmonton. Maybe it was set up wrong. It was a combination of Wendy's and a Ponderosa.

The "real glasses" were clear plastic glasses you'd keep in your holiday trailer. Very classy.

And at the Fuddrucker's I know, the only one I've been to, it's in the Mall food court and you order off a large menu posted on a wall with a person standing at a cashier, you get a paper cup, and you take your food away and eat it in the same place as people who ordered Chinese, pizza from Sbarro's, Subway sandwiches, etc.

Maybe they have some more "Red Robin-esque" type places, but the two are clearly in different categories. Heck, several of the items at a Boston Market take hours to make, but it's all served relatively quickly and still counts as "fast food," even if they have to bring your turkey sandwich out to your table because the turkey's not quite done cooking yet.

Yup.

I've only ever been to Fuddruckers in San Diego, Tucson, and Phoenix. They've all been what I would call restaurants, but maybe it's just a west coast thing.

Fuddruckers clearly has "restaurant style" places, but clearly also has definite "fast foody" type locations as well. Wikipedia even calls the restauranty-style ones "fast casual" dining:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuddruckers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fast_casual_restaurant

Summary: no full table service, but attempts to have better food quality than "fast food" places.

So, we're all right. And that ends the Great Fuddruckers Debate of 2010. Let's move on.

P.S. SAM, go to Lindburger's just off Military Trail in Delray Beach if you want a good burger.

For anyone in the Delaware area, Jake's Hamburgers is really good, though they just changed their name to Jake's Wayback Burgers. They also have locations in Tampa, CT, Long Island, southeastern PA, MD, NC, and Springfield, MA.

Personally, I have no use for fast-food burgers. Thanks to the recession, there is a rash of burger joints in metro Atlanta started up by recently-unemployed upscale chefs and restauranteurs. Quite frankly, quick-service burgers (with the sole exception of Five Guys) cannot hope to compare.

    • Thank you.  I'll cross it off the list since it isn't going to achieve what I want.
    • While it does turn out that both Tiger and Phil are less squeaky clean than I previously believed, I don't think golf quite has the worst in professional sports.  Or maybe they're better at image management.   Obviously I'm not fond of Phil's issue we're discussing in this thread (or his involvement with LIV) or Tiger's choices of how to drive.  I used to really like Dustin Johnson and, even before the LIV situation, we started to hear rumors that he bought more snow than Seward, although I don't think those stories were ever substantiated.  Meanwhile, I did think of Anthony Kim as the "good, bad boy" of the tour for a while fifteen years ago because of his party persona -- and if it turns out the worst he did was show up hung over to play (barring what one thinks of LIV), that's pretty good.  And I'm still happy he found a way to get his life clean. If we contrast that with some other sports I enjoy, I'm sure we could find a nice long list of NFL players that, at one point in my life, I was quite fond of, we get far worse disappointments (to put it mildly).
    • Answering that properly would land me in hot water, so I'm not going to. I don't think that many people would do that. I think that in certain circumstances many people would be willing to overlook someone doing that. But I was really referring to what I assumed was Tiger's transgressions (cheating on his wife) not Phil's.
    • No! Is a large part of the human population selfish, apathetic and cuts corners in the name of self-preservation 'more than they would like to admit', yes. Degenerate, scum, etc?.. no!! Most humans/men would not grope a woman like Phil is accused of doing (I think he absolutely did). That is scum. I mean what % of men do you think would do that? Seriously??
    • I don't think that is true at all. That is off-topic here, I think.
