I've been rocking the white belt for quite a while now...I found one of my dad's from the 70's back in '02.  Since I've always like wearing long pants on the course, and prefer black I thought the white belt really looked nice.  Looks better now that I got the new Nike TW white belt, to go along with my collection of black pants and white red or black shirts.  Also recently switched to wearing white shoes, so the white belt doesn't look quite as out of place as before.

Why did you have to wear them in the 70s?

Who the f cares what you wear. If you want to wear a white belt go for it. I just want to play golf. If my playing mates want to look good then go for it. It doesn't effect anyone. Why are you idiots fashion critics on the course. JUST PLAY. You can wear a nike shirt with adidas belt and callaway shoes. Who needs to match. unless you are sponsored

For me if you feel good going out on the course then that gives you an edge and makes you feel better about your game. It's the same in all walks of life. If you go to work in a nice suit you feel more confident about yourself. If you go to the gym and lose 2-3 stone and build muscle your gonna feel more confident wearing a t-shirt or heading to the beach/pool. I have a Adidas reversible belt Black/White got it a couple of months ago. I wear the black more often as there is a stigma with guys wearing a white belt. I've worn it on the white side maybe twice depends who I play with. Some guys might say look at this flash harry and if you play bad then they'll rip the piss behind your back. To hell with them it's a nice look with a black, grey or navy pants.

I'm the exact opposite, LOL. I love white belts and almost always wear them, even when I'm not playing golf. I just like the look. I like black belts too, but white belts just really stand out.

I like the white Nike hat, light blue shirt, white belt, gray pants/shorts, and shoes with at least some white in them.

Nancy Reagon taught me to "Just Say No" and that's exactly what I do to white belts. And I'm a fan of belts of all types of colors. I just can't do a white one. I think its because so many golfers and pros do wear them. I don't agree with "golf style" to begin with. Although Nike has been making some nice shirts lately. That's beyond the point. Anyway, No. I'll allow white in the belt, but not a full solid white...

I think if you're in your 20's or younger white belts are fashionable today.  Over 30 it can be a bit iffy depending on your look and waist size.  I personally have only worn a white belt when I started taking martial arts classes, but I really don't care what other golfers wear.

Hey easy now on the over 30 crowd!!! I am almost 40 and I sport the white belt on many occasions, I actually have two of them! I do my best to look presentable on the golf course, if I suck on any given day, I want to look good doing it!

White belt, get over it.  That's nothing.

I was at an event with another family.  Part of the family was a very attractive 15 year girl.  At the event was a guy around 20 who had his eyebrows plucked.

I have a strong opinion on that.  I asked her what she thought of it and she paused for a long time and said it can look good.

THAT is a problem.  Would you notice a white belt if you son appeared with plucked eyebrows?

I love the comments about "I wear my white belt with this outfit" (my mom still lays out my "outfits", too)....really?

I own a white belt, and use it as a sheer intimidation factor.

I have 3 pair of white shorts, solid, black checks & blue stripes.

I think a white belt looks far better thana black or brown...

when i grew up, I was taught to wear a belt that matched my shoes......and I still think that is appropriate.

The only place I wear white shoes is on the golf course, so a white belt is appropriate, especially when your shorts are white.

Forgive my Ignorance, but I've read on some forums and saw that many people are infatuated with custom flashy belts ect.  Why is this?  Is there some underlying rebellion against course dress codes ect? I understand allowing your personality to show but was just curious if there was more to it.

Thanks,

Jeff

Id like to know the ages of the people who say it's lame, and I would be shocked if I find someone that's under 30 that finds the white belt lame. It's the cool thing right now, everyone is wearing a white belt most of the time, and yes, we're all trying to look like Ricky Fowler (not me, but I haven't seen so many Puma shirts and hats on the course since he's been around). I am a size 40 waist, and if you want to judge me because of the color belt I wear, then you're less of a man to me.

How do you not wear a white belt with white pants? Pretty sure white belts are stylish as long as it matches your hat/shoes or pants...

My new outfit:  Black Nike shoes, black Adidas shorts, dark purple Nike shirt, white belt, black/white Nike hat (ok, I already had the shoes and hat).  Verdict: Sex!

    • Sorry, mistyped. My mind went rounds = tournaments, lol.  No, I thought 20-28 tournaments. Probably closer to 28 than 20.
    • You think Rory only has 5-7 competitive major tournaments left in his career!!??  I strongly disagree with that. He's only 35. I think he'll be competitive in at least like 20+ more majors.
    • I was just thinking about this. 60 majors played in since 2010. 42% of them top 10 finishes. 22% top 5 finishes. My goodness, 9 straight top 10 finishes at the US Open, regarded as the toughest course set up for the Majors. WTH!  That is different than jacked, so no.  No, it doesn't. It is tough to win majors. He is in rare company by winning the career grand slam.  It is much tougher to win majors in the 2010+ years than it was prior.  Look at the most majors list. If you cut it off at 5+ majors. There are 21 golfers ever to have 5+ majors. 17 of them won their first major prior to 1987.  Maybe you could say he should have two more if things go his way. I don't think he should be near 10 or anything like that. 5 is reasonable at this point. He is tied for 15th ever. He probably has like 20 to 28 more competitive major rounds in him.  Maybe in like the short term yes, but he would have gotten used to it in short order. He is a world class athlete in the golfing world. His ability to feel his golf swing is nearly unmatched. To say that him getting a bit bigger in 2014 has impacted him over the next 11 years, without him just figuring it out is really an absurd statement.  Tiger Woods changed his swing like 3x and was elite. He got bigger, not jacked, and was elite.  We are not talking about Olympic weightlifters here, or jacked body-builders. FYI, doing weightlifting through a full range of motion gives you more flexibility. Do you want to know who can get into the deepest squats in the world, people with gigantic legs, the Olympic weightlifters. Want to know who can't get down into a deep squat, lazy people who don't work out.  Could muscle mass as the "extreme" side of things cause some interference in a particular golf motion, sure. Rory isn't even close to being that size.  Yea, it could be mental. Sometimes you just need to get over the hump again even though you have 4 majors in your pocket. You only get 4 chances a year at this. You have to be on your game to have a chance on Sunday. So, for the stars to align for him to have the chances to even learn from his mistakes is not that much. Being T-5, 6 strokes back and not having that pressure on the Sunday is not a learning experience on how to close out a tournament. It makes sense why it could take this long. Also, he is playing against other good golfers. Sometimes, the best golfers in the world get beat. Nope, it isn't. I would agree it was loss of confidence or nerves, plus other golfers just taking it from him than it being related to him working out. I am actually willing to say, it is 0.0000000000000000000000001% related to him working out. So, round that off to ZERO!  Let's not play the victim card here.  He wasn't able to bomb it 330 yards prior to 2014 because he was a kid who still had baby fat on him.  Look at the rolling 10 round average since he started. It looks pretty typical. Lots of ups and downs because you can't be on all the time. Even back in 2014, he never really had a 10 round average were his stroke's gained approach was negative. If you say his size causes him issues, then there should be something crazy here. The dips in 2014 on look the same. Did he have some early year crazy spikes, sure. Sometimes a golfer catches fire for a year. There are things call outliers for a reason.  So, this is probably why you started this. You dislike Rory and want to wish it into existence that he would never win another Master.  Again, you are not the victim here, so stop these self-deprecating comments to try to buy some sympathy.
