I have some pairs of the adidas ClimaCool pants and I can attest that they breathe very nicely and wouldn't hesitate to wear them in the summer here (it gets 100F+ and dry).

I used to be a shorts guy (for golf) in high school and early 20s but not so much now for whatever reason.

That is only true until you hit your first shot! Then, sadly, we are reminded that we are not pro's!

If it is a round during the week after work than pants for me. Normally I am with clients and want to keep the professional appearance. Plus...I wear the Haggar Cool 18 as work pants everyday so I just throw on a golf shirt and go. Weekend rounds if the temps are decent I will wear shorts, the same Haggar Cool 18. Very nice overall wear and fit.

They do?  I've seen lots of photos of Tiger wearing shorts when he's not playing on tour.

Let's bring some dignity to the game and wear pants!  Shorts (and skirts) are for girls and women.

I prefer to wear pants but on the hottest days I just can't do it.  I do feel "more formal" and "more like a pro" and some how think that helps (certainly doesn't hurt) - especially in the concentration and dedication to each shot department.

I'd like to find some of the new breathable fabrics for less then the golf stores sell them.  I certainly can't go around paying $60 for several pairs of pants.

I usually wear shorts because I can't handle the heat/humidity.  But... I also can't handle the sun/sunburn.  I'm thinking of investing in some lightweight pants --- then maybe, I'll ditch the shorts for good.

I'd actually like to get cool long-sleeve shirts for summer too --- help with the sunburn!  ...just bought a lifeguard-style straw hat to provide a bit more shade --- too windy to use much though...

Yeah, seriously. I usually wear shorts, and I recently got two pairs of reallllly nice Izod shorts for 35 dollars total. They are the nice material that Nike and Adidas usually makes, it's like the real smooth kind. Not sure of the actual material. The MSRP on the shorts was 52 dollars!

I love outlets!

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
