If you're not paying for your round then you're a thief, not a customer.  You don't get to decide what a business owner charges for their product or service.  Take your business somewhere else if you don't like their fees or attitude.  Stealing at 22 years of age, regardless of how you try to justify it, simply makes you a criminal.

Plus you clearly have no idea how much money it costs to maintain even an average golf course.

Even if the guy in the shop was the biggest dick head ever, it still gives you no right to sneak onto the course.  Either take your complaint to the manager to get it resolved or you can take your business somewhere else, but sure as hell don't sneak out.  You are committing theft and trespassing and are possibly slowing up play because you are in between two groups (who paid) where you shouldn't be.

I'm not sure what you expected by posting this... golf is generally regarded as a game of honesty and integrity and you are showing that you have absolutely none of those qualities.

Over the last 3 years of working at a golf course, I've called the cops 5 or 6 times for people who trespass and refuse to leave the course.  Even if it's a public course, it's reserved only to those who pay.  I have even called the cops for people who pay for 18 holes and try to play an extra 4 or 5 holes, that's called theft.  There are regulars at the course who try to pull it off, but after threatening them with the cops, they've stopped, and I've built my reputation of being a hard ass.  My main reason for this is 90% of golfers, at least at this course, do not fix their ball marks or divots, then complain how the course looks like crap. Getting back to track of this thread, regardless of whether you think you can get away by being an ass, try being an ass to the cop, who's already pissed for having to come to a golf course, and see how he reacts.  I've seen it, and it ain't pretty.

At least you figured out one thing....don't become a professional thief. It's obvious that you would get caught.  I mean who comes onto a golf forum and tells everyone that they sneak on to a golf course and play for free?

Paying more than $20 for greens fees isn't bullshit, your morals and standards are.

Continue to rationalize it all you want, sneaking onto a golf course is stealing.

People who claim not to "take bullshit" like the OP are invariably people who are full of bullshit. They behave dishonestly and pretend they're making a moral stand. Go and steal a Ferrari and claim you did it because the price is higher than you want to pay. And I'm wondering if I've heard a more ridiculous term than describing onesself as "ghetto".

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

If they're refusing to correctly honor a posted policy, you can speak to the manager or pursue your complaint with the BBB. If you have reason to believe it may be discrimination against you, you could raise complaints about that. These are all good responses to the situation, where it certainly sounds like the employee was in error. Your response is childish, illegal, and I personally wouldn't be bragging about it on a public forum.

Oh no, not this thread again.....can we just get the lock going on page 2 rather than page 40?

Moral of the story: Stop trespassing/stealing. There are laws against it. It's all fun and games til you get caught. It's not worth the risk.

EDIT: The previous thread on this is here by the way.

I'm going to flip the script since this guy is an idiot.... On tuesday I just wanted to get out after work to play as many holes as I could before dark. I get to the course and I'm trying to get out before the womens league starts but their credit card machine was not working. I play there every now and again so they recognized me and the pro let me go out and asked if I would pay the turn or when I was done. I could have easily played all 18 and just left without anyone being the wiser but I stopped after 9. I paid my greens fee and the pro gave me a free round voucher for actually coming back in to pay. Integrity sometimes pays...

C'mon this guy is just yanking your chain.  Probably sitting in the men's card room at Bushwood CC sipping martinis with Ty and Judge Smales.  Waiting for Lacey to come by so they can go to the opera.  And using an IPad 2.

I'm not going to repeat what most people have already said, it's redundant.

However,  I was fortunate enough to spend a few years of my childhood in a house adjacent to the 7th tee of a private country club.  When it was dusk and I was sure there weren't any more groups, I would head out to the green with my Nerf putter and putt around.  This is what got me interested in golf.  Even though we lived in a nice area, we couldn't afford the golf membership or golf clubs.  I don't think it hurt anyone and I had 20 or so minutes of harmless fun before dinner.  This kind of "sneaking" is acceptable, in my opinion.

No way I would ever sneak onto a course. I have payed for 9 a few times and if I decided I wanted to keep going I always go in and pay the difference even though I could easily have just kept going without anyone knowing.

That's cool. I went to a new course for the first time on Wednesday---it's a few hours from home but I was in the area for work for a couple days. I was planning to try to go there on Thursday, but wanted to hit the range a little bit. Unfortunately, the range was closed for mowing/maintenance on late Wednesday afternoons. The guy was cool, seemed apologetic about it, and offered to let me out to play a few holes if I just wanted to hit a few shots. I decided just to use their chipping and putting greens, but I appreciated the offer.
