How about youngest player ever to have a 10+ shot lead at any point during a US Open (he had a 10 shot lead for about 10 minutes during the 2nd round)

Actually, no Tiger is the best part. People can fully appreciate his accomplishments instead of diminishing them with comparisons to tournaments 11-14 years ago.

I've enjoyed watching Rory play so well this week.  While his dominance the last three days will reduce the drama to determine the winner today, watching someone play such amazing golf is very enjoyable to me.

I've been out all day until just now.  Have the announcers made any reference to how many guys are well under par?  Historically, how many golfers tend to finish under par in a US Open?

Through 11 holes, Yang looks like he could finish at -10 (or better) and not win.  How often has that happened?

Last question, am I correct in remembering Tiger winning his US Open by 12+ strokes?  That is still possible but starting to feel unlikely for Rory...one of the few records he may not hold after the day is over.

This kid has such a terrific swing and all around game. Very good win for Rory. Maybe now golf might have some consistency in the winners circle now.

When Rory starts winning lots of majors by dramatic fashion every year, then I think the "New Tiger" would be appropriate

How many "The New Tigers" have their been the last ten years?

Every person that has won a tournament in their early 20's seems to get called that....

I haven't noticed that. Who else has been called 'The New Tiger' in the last few years?

Nobody has. It was one of those purely fabricated reactionary things people say.

Gorgeous play by McIlroy. I thought Yang was going to hold onto 2nd place until he went 2 over in the last four holes. He started pulling most of his shots for some reason. He also misread his putts a little high almost all day. One inch lower here and there would've saved him 3 or 4 strokes over the day.

    • Day 21 - Good session with driver and 6i. Hitting real golf balls is quite a bit different from the foam balls, still getting used to that change.
    • There are so many videos comparing and contrasting everything that I am both overwhelmed and more than a bit skeptical. Your comments above are much more valuable than hours of you-tube videos. Generally speaking, I’d much prefer to read something that someone took the time and trouble to write (such as your comments) than a bunch of videos, or worse, meaningless reviews that seem like they are all cut and paste selections of the same script. I’m more of a RTFM type than a watcher of “instructional” videos. By way of explanation, I don’t watch TV either.  So thanks - I’ll take that under advisement. I have an H3 that I bought for $10 that I’ve been carrying around but not sure why. Seems like a cool club, but I just don’t really know what to do with it.
    • I was using the window as a mirror. Just trying to be a more aware of the feels for a better backswing. Trying to not be as closed from A1 to A2. Then not letting the club head flip inside. What I was feeling was a pressure my right wrist, and like the palm of my right hand was pushing upward against the grip of the club. My right hand was the underside of the swing path.  Going to play around with this a bit more. It looked pretty decent with mirror/window work. Just wanted to jot it down.
    • Day 4: 3/26/25 Par4Success workout followed by putting through 50 mm gates.
    • Day 249: did a stack putting session and then worked on 5 foot putts for a bit.
