As much as I complain about the heat, any kind of heat is better than knee deep snow. Die hard walker, used to do alot of high mileage running and cycling so carrying is no problem in any heat.

Heat is fine, sun is tough.  I usually end up with some degree of sun stroke by the end of 18.  I played 36 once in the heat and did reasonably well.  Hydrate the night before, iced towel on the neck, and lots of water and salt does the trick for me.

I hate the heat and humidity but apparently play better in it.  Yesterday morning I played 9 and shot a "disappointing" 42 (double bogey on 9th hole ).  Then in the afternoon I played 18 on a deserted course (took 2.2 hours according to my SkyCaddie) and hit an 86.  Both were great scores for me as I usually hit in the low 90s or upper 80s.  I'm playing again tomorrow so hopefully I'll be able to keep it up.

Today.  Hot again.  Humid again.  86 again.  Maybe I do like the heat.

I love playing in any "Extreme" conditions. When is really hot out, I always start the day with a Gatorade or similar product. Then when I cash that on the second hole, I have a water bottle to use the rest of the round. I went to college in Southern New Mexico. There were some very hot summers there. Hydration is the key to staying focused. Also try to eat something good and nutrtious @ the turn. Maybe another sports drink. Definitely stay away from sodas, caffeine and fatty foods though.

Good call.  I bring two big aluminum water bottles with me to the course and also buy a couple Gatorades.  I also bring granola bars or Power Bars with me to eat.  I try to make sure to drink lots of water the night before also.

Back when I was a diehard walker, I used to carry a rosin bag and I recommend it for blazing hot weather.  Needless to say.....I also rotated between 2-3 gloves when walking......I still rotate between 2 even when riding in a cart...LOL

Played in our city tournament last week for first time ever....and of course heat indexes are 100+ everyday...I walk 90% of my rounds and we walked on day 1, drank 4 gatorades during the round, along with filling those bottles up with water as well and cashing those out.....eating during the round is key for me, a Clif bar at the turn is usually enough for me when walking, and probably a couple granola bars during the round as well........and I still lost 5# of sweat!  So we rode on day 2 and I shot a personal best 82 the next day! (Must have been the 5 gatorades LOL)

I don't like the heat, but it won't stop me from playing. I dislike humidity more, though. Heat just feels bad, humidity can actually effect your grip/feel.

I work in the heat and sun everyday so playing golf  in the heat doesn't seem that bad. Played 27 yesterday when it was 104. I would hate to guess the heat index.

I really love the fact that the course is a lot less crowded too! Best time to play, while the heat sensitive are home watching golf!

On a side note, the wife texts me while we are playing and says the AC is acting up. I get home to a cool 84 inside the house!

I was watching the u.s. Open and hear the guys on the golf channel talking about electrolyte pills. They are AWESOMME. I pop about 6 of them at the start of the round an stay hydrated. The heat is no problem at all.

I've been drinking Smart Water and that seems to help replace the electrolytes without the calories of a Gatorade.

Much prefer to play in the heat, i live on the Costa del Sol, Spain so unless you want to quit playing throughout the summer months, you have to get on with it and enjoy playing in the heat.  Some courses here are close to the sea and quite high up so you can get a nice sea breeze which helps.  When it's cold and windy is when i don't like playing...

Before I turned 40 I would have said No, but at 46 now I guess I have turned wuss.  I can do it but really don't like playing in such hot extreme temps.  Below 95 I am ok, but above that it is just too difficult to stay focused on game, hydration, etc.

Having grown up in the deserts of AZ I used to handle the Summer heat just fine.  But not anymore as I have aged my internal cooling system just does not work as well as it once did.  But I can still play in the heat early in the Summer when the relative humidity is below 10% or so.  But late Summer you won't find me on any of the desert courses.  Too bad as you can play some great courses for not much $ in the Summer.

Yep.  Start your round no later than 10am, drink lots of water the night before.  Play 9 holes.

I don't mind it so much. The courses are usually empty and I can play nicer courses for alot less money. I do find that by the last hole or two I start to fade though.
