Thanks for sharing Ben!  Looks like you had a great time.

I might be in the minority but I always enjoy seeing Phil play well.  I know he kind of struggled today and it's amazing the highs and lows he can put himself through in one round.

So much fun to watch Phil. He tries so many shots - really goes for it. His "I am such an idiot" line was one of the most honest things I've heard from any athlete. Love to see him go on a tear and pile up the wins this year, including the US Open.

Doubt Jerry West is anti Canadian ;)   but this is interesting.....

Meanwhile, the PGA Tour, which has two commissioner’s foreign exemptions at its disposal, gave them to Japanese players Ryo Ishikawa and Yuta Ikeda. Given that Weir is Canadian, he falls into the category of player eligible for a foreign exemption.

A source close to the events that transpired around Weir but who did not want to be identified speculated that Asian television could be a priority with Northern Trust, a Chicago-based financial services company that has Asia-Pacific operations. Bone did not respond by deadline Wednesday to a question about whether this influenced the exemptions given. Riviera is owned by Japanese interests.

To be honest I have no problems with the Japanese players geting in. I guess the only thing that rubs me the wrong way is that Jason Gore was selected because he initiated a furious twitter campagn and it seemed to pay off. Something Mike would never do. He probably figured being a two time past champ, former Masters winner and top 30 all time money leader were enough credentials to get in. Guess he better fire up his twitter account :P

Ironically, in demeaner and attitude, Mickelson reminds me of a buddy I worked with in the UAE, one of the shittiest golfers I ever played with.

Great to see him playing well ...

... Phil that is.

In my bag ... 12 year old Balvenie DoubleWood

Haha, at first it looked like he hit his ball only 10 yards (but I guess that only happens to me...)

I'll admit, I've grown rather fond of Keegan Bradley in the past few months. Can't wait for today's round. Another one of those days that makes the cable bill worth it - I'll see almost their whole round.

Anyone else notice the similarities between Jack and Arnie and Tiger and Phil?

Jack was regarded as the best, but Arnie was truly loved by the fans...

I don't know, Tiger and Phil both seem to have their share of haters.

I would doubt that you are in the minority.

Mickelson is probably the most popular and loved golfer on the planet, dspite the fact that some people like to bag him for various reasons.

The average golf fan wouldn't even know that there is usually a campaign somewhere o the internet to discredit him for being "phony" or whatever.

Not all golf fans hang around golf forums on the internet.

And most sports fans in general love him.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Typical Sergio sunday. Just far enough out of it that he didn't have any pressure, he shoots a low number and comes up just short.

He's the leader in the clubhouse, but yeah, too little too late. He shot the right number (64) but the leaders didn't hold up their end of the bargain this week.

Seems like a lot of flubbed chips coming down the stretch here, but not by Haas, Bradley, or Phil.

    • Day 116 12-6 Still working on getting to lead side. Tonight I also tried some skill work with clubface awareness.  Hit foam balls.
    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
