We're sort of over-reacting to an attempt at a bit of humor, aren't we?  You need to chill out a bit.  What did he hurt with that?

i am guessing hes an auburn fan lol..

I couldn't even tell if the joke is supposed to be at the expense of the guy, old ladies, or auburn. Or, for that matter, umbrellas. Whatever it is, somebody's taking it a little too seriously. ;)

Why can't Johnny Miller cease with the sarcastic and wise ass remarks? They say a lot about his personality and take away professionalism from the PGA and network.

I find him mildly refreshing, saying things that others are not willing to but are surely thinking. He will probably get into trouble one day for that, but I'm not sure he cares enough to turn into just another talking head for the network.

Because he actually doesn't really do it that much.

Because by and large he is very fair and complimentary.

Because he actually is very professional and knowledgeable.

Because he adds value.

The critics do what they do to Tiger Woods. They invent stuff and think about something that may have happened five years ago that was never repeated but behave as if it happens all the time.

For example: You NEVER see Tiger signing autographs. HE ALWAYS ignores fans.

Miller ALWAYS talks about himself. He IS ALWAYS talking about his 63.

Not true.

I find Miller to be a breath of fresh air in a PC world.

Well said. But careful...there are a lot of those PC hounds on here.

What kind of comment is that?-People disagree all the time. And that is a good thing.

I think he was commenting on the rarity of Shorty agreeing with someone.

And in this case I completely agree with Shorty.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

I do not take it that way-I take it as Disagreeing here on TST is dangerous-and it is obviously not as people disagree ALL THE TIME here.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
