Is Anyone Else Fed Up With "Sir Nick Faldo's" Self Serving English Babbling?

"Sir Nick" (SN) as he insists on being introduced can wear you thin. He reminds me of a big dumb jock with a british accent. He loves to throw in english proverbs that really are not that cute. I would prefer to listen to John Miller tell the way he sees it any day. Today SN was trying to pull the rug out from under VJ Sing siting something to effect that his use of Deer Antler Spray should DQ all of VJ's achievements. VJ has 57 pro wins SN has 41 pro wins. You don't think that he is trying to tear down VJ's superior record in order to raise his achievements on the all time list.

I would love to see NBC replace this pompous English Brat.

It's a different culture, obviously Faldo is proud of his knighthood and asks to be referred by "Sir Nick" just as a doctor will correct someone that calls them mister.

Nice bit of English bashing, you could have just called him a pompous Brat, that's what we all think of him and have done for years.

Hope he doesn't get the sack, he might come back to the UK!

There's also the fact that Singh's been a cheater for his whole career, so players of Faldo's generation hold grudges against him. He's never been known to be a nice person and has cheated in other ways besides using the spray.

Faldo's watchable much of the time but insufferable some of the time. Miller is moderately insufferable all the time, Chamblee is insufferable and has no majors. Mccord is weird for the sake of being weird, and Feherty is best when he isn't trying too hard.

I stand corrected and do apologize about knocking the English. It is just that he really leans on the English accent and he really delivers a very light load with his comments.

I'd agree with your assessment of the other commentators. Chamblee makes me want to puke most of time he opens his mouth. I would really prefer to have Faherty and McCord in the booth and have Chamblee and Faldo running around the course chasing after players comments.

FWIW, I'd be surprised if Faldo "insists" on being called "Sir." Seems like something CBS and/or Nantz decided to do rather than Faldo himself, if anything.

Faldo's a little pompous but that, as others have alluded, is a cultural thing. I quite like him, pomposity and all, as long as you tune him out as soon as he starts talking technical about the swing.

Chamblee is a total punk, I just want to reach thru the screen and slap him LOL.

As far as winning records, 6 majors trump 3 majors any day.

I have been told that he insists on being introduced as Sir Nick. I have no hard evidence to prove this other than that is what my half a whack job brother in law told me. So you maybe right. LOL! I still think he is a jerk!

First as my father told me always give respect to professionals especially doctors and professors by referring to them with there appropriate titles. This being said nine times out of ten I have found that most of the doctors insist on me not calling them by these well earned titles but rather by there first names. Second I agree 6 majors is huge but lets not forget VJ is not done playing yet and his record of post 40 years of age is the best in modern golf. If VJ gets two more majors how would you rate the two?

Yeah, without having any knowledge at all, I'd assume it to be one of the above two.  Maybe Erik and Mike have some inside knowledge here since they just met him a couple of weeks ago.  Did you guys call him Sir?  If not, did he correct you?

And to answer the question posed in the thread title ... no.  I quite like him as an announcer.  I also like Johnny Miller.  Then we get into the middle of the season and ABC starts doing tournaments (maybe its just the British Open) I quite like Curtis Strange too.

They all have some faults, and can be annoying at times, but mostly, they're all pretty good commentators, and I am not at all fed up with them.  If I was, I could easily watch with the sound turned off, or not watch at all.

If all those golf talking heads were vanilla there'd be no reason to listen to the tournaments and shows. If you're old enough to remember when all they did was whisper and give generic comments you should be grateful.

Sir Nick doesn't bother me at all. I generally find him pleasant to listen to.

Greatest golfer of his generation, without peer...

Bit idiosyncratic perhaps - especially as a commentator - but then I rather like his dry, slightly self-deprecating style.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
