Up .1, but at least I'm still under 7, barely. Actually feel a little better. My last couple of rounds have given me some slight hope and most of my low scores have now dropped off. Nowhere for the index to go but down now... ....I hope! :~( I'm giving myself until August to get back into the 5's....

I finally have an official handicap at 14.7. 9 scores posted (pretty awful ones mind you).

I guess I better break down and get an official handicap, rather dislike having to pay for something like that though. It's like paying to get graded on how well you golf :-P

Now's the time to do it.

Went down by .2! Hooray! Next revision will be a bigger change. I have a differential that's 6.8 that will be coming off. Might be a rather large bump upwards for me.

With my first full month complete, while getting back into the game, using 15 scores, my handicap right now is 13. I'm using one of those auto handicap websites, so accuracy might be suspect. After my first 5 scores I was at a 18. After 10 scores,  I was at 15. So it is coming down. The 13, although I am happy with it, is still 5 strokes higher than when I had to leave the game a few years back. Don't know if I will ever get back to single digits, and I know to go lower than 13 will be tougher than it was getting to that number. However, the challenge to play better is a great motivator for me. My next goal will be to get down to a 10. With continued practice, and play I'm pretty sure it's achievable with in the next few months. If not, I will still be golfing and having a good time. :-)

18.7 because some good rounds from a year ago fell off and some bad rounds from this year are now being used. One of my ten best recent 20 has a 22.7 differential! Now that's some rust. Fortunately, my last two rounds -- in which I gave away some shots unnecessarily -- were 17.1 and 17.0 differentials, and it's getting better from here.

Up to a 10.1, but I am still working on getting used to a change in grip and alignment. When they work they work well, but when I slip back to old habits it gets pretty ugly. I really want to be able to stay in the single digits.

Still headed in the right direction. Officially a single digit index now at a 9.4!!!

I didn't post my 6-15 index because it was embarrassingly high, the highest since 1992.

Back in the right direction at 10.5 and my goal is to get it back to what it was April 1 at 8.4.

Cool.  How does it feel?  It seems like most guys being realistic would still say they have a goal of being single digits.  I know I do.

It feels great. However, I thought I'd be happy just to be in single digits, and while it feels good to make it there, I'm by no means content. I'm playing the best golf of my life right now and I still see so many things that I think I can improve upon. New goal is to get to a 5, not sure how long that'll take though.

For me, this was a huge hurdle to overcome.   I got into the singles pretty fast, but hit a brick wall.  Never lose faith....it can be done   I was stuck in the 7-9 range for a decade and lost all hope for breaking through to the next level.  I accepted my fate...I figured, this was my peak.   Then out of nowhere.... I suddenly smashed through barrier after barrier until I got to a zero at one point.  When I think about it, it's a little crazy.

The point.....barriers can be broken. never lose faith because that next barrier will be broken when you least expect it.  It can and will happen if you keep at it.  My HC has risen since, but I also don't play as much as I did then.  It can be done..........

Is there any real point in keeping a handicap unless you are playing in comps

I keep one even though I don't play tournament golf, although I won't rule that out. To me, it's a gage of how I am doing. Nbers don't lie. If my scores are improving, the hdcp drops and vice versus.

Yer that makes sense

I guess what I am saying is I have no idea how to figure mine out :-P
