I'm a huge movie fanatic! "American Sniper" is one of the best I've seen in a long time, since "Lone Survivor"! CarryIng on in that line, "Fury" was great. I've heard "John Wick" and "Taken 3" are both good (plan to watch them this weekend). I watched "The Boy Next Door" tonight, not one of JLo's best movies, but a decent story line. Felt it missed something in the end. "The Loft" will be my next must see!

Great movie. haven't seen too many of Witherspoon's films, so her typecast image is not something I associate with her, but I do remember her vividly in Election. The movie works on all levels, personal journey/dealing with loss, road trip and travelogue, gorgeous views. Script is co-written by Nick Hornby, one of my favorite writers, I wonder if he had any input into the soundtrack because there are some great songs sprinkled throughout. You really get a POV of how it is for a lone woman to confront a man of unknown quantity. I have a copy of Dallas Buyers Club that has yet to be watched, will move it up in the queue. Birdie

Kill the Messenger

Woohoo, I didn't have to watch Andy Garcia tee it up this weekend in the annual hit and giggle fest in Monterey. Then I watched this movie. Garcia plays a drug smuggler who enabled copious amounts of cocaine to be sold in LA to help fund the rebels in Nicaragua still manages to hit some 5 irons, out of a prison. This is based on the story of Gary Webb, the journalist who broke the above story plus that the CIA (Cocaine Import Agency, ha ha... not) basically coordinated the smuggling. If I recall correctly, after the hit job on Webb's reputation and his reporting was sincerely verified, Lewinskygate came to fore and it was the Eye of Sauron cast on Clinton from thereon. Garcia, Oliver Platt, Toby from The West Wing, Ray Liotta, Omar from The Wire, the sex doctor from Masters of Sex round out the cast and Jeremy Renner stars, Renner was outstanding. Just Say No! Just watched the movie Nightcrawler.

Par. I could have rated it anywhere from a birdie to a bogey and justified it, so I'm going with the average.

Perhaps one of the least sympathetic characters of all time. Holy cow man.

Yeah, his role also really reminded me of that one from Full Metal Jacket guy, though I think JK Simmons did even better job, and it looks a lot more realistic than Full Metal Jacket's cartoonish performance.

I know people who loathe/detest Forrest Gump, Angels and Demons and The DaVinci Code. My favorite has to be Saving Private Ryan. "We're gonna get him, the hell, out of there."
