American Woman, bogey. Just not my kind of film. I gave it a long time, but eventually started skipping ahead five or ten minutes at a time. I can appreciate that it was a well-made film, just again, not my type.

My wife and I call that giving a movie "the treatment". We didn't want to sit through all of it, but wanted to know the ending.

Yeah, it was… boring. Even the ending was boring when you find out all that happened.

I really want to see 1917, but will have to go alone. Took my wife to see pvt Ryan, she was upset for a month so no war movies for her.

Rewatched Raiders of the Lost Ark for the umpteenth time. This is like a quadruple eagle. So many reasons it's so good, such a classic. It's on US Netflix.

I watch quite a lot of films and 1917 was one of the truly great cinema experiences of my 51 years on Planet Erf. Just an absolute knockout on every level. You will definitely want to see this one in the theater.

I won't see war movies for the same reason.

1917 is showing in ScreenX in some theaters. That's where they project onto the side walls, for kind of a 270 degrees experience. Debating whether to see it in this format just to see what it's like, curious how it projects. Is it the same as what you watched in a regular theater more spread out or is there more coverage?

I thought the same. I have never been so engrossed in a movie from beginning to end.

Exactly my experience. Mine cried the whole time after the opening scenes on the beach. She'll never go to another war movie.

I watched a trio of movies over the last few days, starting with:

Once Upon A TIme In Hollywood.  Par.  It's definitely Tarantino, but there wasn't the eight minute monologues this time around.  Kind of slow and plodding, but sweet mother of Jebus what an ending!

1917. Birdie.  I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this twenty minutes in.  By the end I was really impressed.  I'll be watching this again in the future.

Terminator:  Dark Fate.  Par.  I could care less that this messed with the canon of some of the previous films, because to me, I haven't liked most of them to be honest.  Not bad action flick, I thought Linda Hamilton was really good in her role.

Midsommer:

Birdie. Disturbing in a Kubrick way. Like a more intense Eyes Wide Shut. Not a horror film in the common sense of that description. It was beautifully shot with a sense of doom and suspenseful, sickening fates for characters you don’t even know, or have to know. Not mindless torture or gross shocks like the ‘Hostel’ series. This was more elegant and disturbing.

An Eagle for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.  Tarantino, for me, is up there with the great movie directors of all time.  And I also put him up there with the great screenwriters of all time as well.  His movies are never less than great.  I believe he's talking about quitting after his next film.  I really hope that that's not the case.

Angel Has Fallen- Par. In fact to me all 3 of the Fallen movies are pars. Fun movies.

Star Wars, the Rise of Skywalker, uhhhhh, par?

I mean, there were some dumb parts. But it was entertaining. Pretty much what you expect.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire - birdie. Gorgeously shot slow burn get to know you with few, but memorable musical moments that got me to listen to a certain composer again.

Weathering with You - birdie. Not quite as good as Your Name, but very very close imho.
