I was being facetious in lumping him with the "mediocres."

So... he's not leading the pack? Maybe the "pack of mediocres" starts at spot 6th in strokes gained, lol.

Mediocre by definition is the middle. Sixth out of 200 is nowhere near the middle.

I know. I was using mediocre in jest because that's what started this commentary - a previous poster referred to him as "mediocre" and happy to finish in the top ten (I'm paraphrasing).

So by that definition, if he's mediocre, he must be leading the pack.

A person can't redefine what mediocre is. That person was wrong in his assessment.

He's ranked 5th in strokes gained tee to green. He's 2nd in strokes gained approach shots.

I think he's supper close to breaking out and winning a few.

I know!  But I was being extremely conservative and just going off this year.

These critics hold him to a silly standard.

You forgot to bring the funny.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

You don't get it. Fine.  It's not funny to you. I forget how touchy talking about TW can be.  Sarcasm has no  place on this thread. I get it. Finally.

Nobody is being touchy. Your post simply wasn’t funny, and you gave no indication that it was a joke or tongue in cheek.

Sorry it wasn't funny.  I will try harder if I ever do again.

I acknowledged it already. Obviously if you have to explain a joke, it failed.  Lesson learned.

What I should have said in the initial response was that if Tiger's mediocre, he's the best mediocre I've ever seen.. or something to that affect.

I got it, @3jacker. It's all good.

According to comments, Reed put it in the front right bunker. I couldn't see it land. I looks like there's a ball in front of the bunker short of the green. Interesting Reed has an abbreviated followthrough whereas Woods, well, Woods', ahem, "english".

Tiger does most of the twist after he's hit the ball so it's not really something affecting the ball flight much. Maybe it's for show or that it helps him keep the face open through impact when his mindset is to keep it faced that way after impact.

It's interesting.  The "helicopter finish" became the talk of the press last year w/Reed, and now Tiger.  Certainly adds drama to an already dramatic shot.  Perhaps building that into your expectation pre-swing helps one ensure the clubface stays wide open.  Kind of like an abbreviated finish assists with a knockdown ball flight?

I basically just said what you said.  🙂

When I want to hit a giant slice I just grip the club withe face wide open, align left and proceed BAU from there.  To control height I choose whichever iron matches up, trajectory-wise.  Maybe my 8-iron, maybe my chipper.  Luckily this doesn't happen enough to me to really have an iron-clad method for dealing with these shots.
