Nevada.

Dallas.

Orlando.

I've got it! Tiger's next coach will be from… somewhere east of Orlando! The pattern is clear!

Rest assured I had to bring up a map to confirm this first but ...  are YOU going to be his next coach?!?!?!?!

That would certainly lead to a lot of discussions here on this forum.

I wonder if Tiger would blog here or have someone do it for him? For sure the "MySwing (Tiger)" thread would be full of responses. He might even get kickstarter of the month award with 10's of thousands of posts. ;-)

His page should be anonymous as a 20 handicapper that just can't quite get it together. ;-)

Grant is definitely on the short list. Tiger loves his swing, knows Grant is very knowledgeable and has picked his brain before. Grant being a former tour player probably doesn't hurt either.

I think this would be a great fit. Trouble is I thought Sean would be a great fit also.

Grant might not be enough of a change from Sean I guess would be the only negative I could think of.

Ha ha, dunno where Waite is based but NZ is certainly east of Orlando. Way way, way way east. :-) http://i.stuff.co.nz/the-press/sport/10430339/Grant-Waite-stuck-between-Woods-and-the-tees

So says the imaginary International Date Line.  I would disagree though.  PRACTICALLY, NZ is west of Orlando because that's the direction you'd fly to get there. :-P

Would be neat to see Grant as his coach though.

Grant is an interesting choice. I know he works with Joseph Mayo in teaching; does Mayo come with Waite? Would be an interesting bit of work to see those guys work with Tiger.

It basically has evolved to where Joe has his players and Grant has his players. Grant also teaches Baddeley with Chris Como.

Makes sense.

Regardless, I think Grant would do good work with Tiger. Also, a little different. Going to Harmon, or McLean, or someone like that is kind of meh.

I can't imagine Tiger going to him. Tiger knows better than that, right?

It's funny how life works.

Guess who had a front seat view of one of Tiger's greatest shots ever (the one from the fairway bunker on #18 at Glenn Abbey in the 2000 Canadian Open)?

Yup, Grant Waite.  He finished second and was paired with Tiger in the final round.

Guess who was the new up and coming brainiac instructor at the Abbey during that time?  Sean Foley...

I've been seeing and hearing some chatter about Chuck Cook, too. What is he like, in terms of instructor quality?

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
