Someone once said to me, "give golf a try, it's challenging"

To which I replied; "yeah, but so tossing a tic tac in a shoe box at 100 feet

Here is a rule I made up - Good golf clubs won't help a bad golfer

I've always been partial to referring to the bunkers as cat boxes.

That's an ABFU....  (After Birdie F Up)....    <-- not my favorite & not my saying...   I prefer "birdie run!!!"

I do like the cat box or litter box for sand traps though... after all, there's nothing but sh** that comes out those things...

Actually...  one of them is my swing thought sometimes...   I stole this one from that show "Flashpoint" - a show that is about a Strategic Response Unit dealing with hostage situations....

Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast ...

Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast....    yeah, it actually makes sense for me.  You don't have as much tension in your arms etc.  It helps me in pressure situations and reminds me to stay smooth...  My tendency under pressure is to overswing sometimes...

My dad always says this to me on every tee box, "Take your time, keep your head down, I'll watch the ball for you." Ha, ha, ha. I don't know why he insists on saying it every hole but he does.

After 18 holes with my buddy, John, we finish the round by saying, "It's been a slice of heaven."

After a few bad drives I utter under my breath, "Swing slow, and watch it go."

And, of course, as a very long putt approaches the hole, I use the Ty Webb quote from Caddyshack, "N-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n."

I've said this a few times to that. "I'm 2/3 water, but you don't see me splashing down the drain"

My favorite is a quote from Bobby Jones, "golf is a game that is played in the 5 inches between your ears".

I like a quote I heard, I think it is from Bob Rotella: "play the shot you can, not the shot you want.

If I hit the fairway, "Hey diddle diddle, hit it down the middle".

If I leave a putt short, it either has lace on it or I'm Alice

If I putt and I'm still away, it's still a "U za".   U za still away.

    • A strong grip cups the wrist (lead) and then it wants to flatten through impact, something I used to be able to avoid to keep it from going left and protecting my forearm (the main premise of my set up). Longer the club, harder it is becoming. Either way, yes, I need to transition to gripping it open.
    • Why don't you grip it "open" so you can return your hand to the place where you're comfortable/not sore, but the ball won't go left? It's effectively weaker… without actually "being" weaker?
    • Day 47 - 2024-11-16 Light backswing work with about 3 or 4 rehearsals for every ball hit. Only about ten minutes while waiting for a potential member to show up (he was 25 minutes late). 😛
    • Idk but I would have to imagine that a putter that is aimed where you think it's aimed would be the most important aspect of a putter
