He could be talking about a lateral shift of center of mass, not the head. In order to transfer your weight forwards your center of mass well also move forward, even if your head does not.

Your CoP might move 2 and 8 inches, but I doubt your CoM would in most good golf swings (unless you measure at the end of the swing when you're just standing there on your left foot, but that seems like a silly time to measure that).

Range swing, Tiger, range swing. That's all you need. I see a lot of Rory in that swing.

I put the swings up on YT. I'd slow it down for y'all, but not using my primary computer.

One thing I noticed a bit is that his right heel is coming off the ground again before/during impact as opposed to being completely flat/rolling like it was before.

I'd love to see a true face on shot and see how far forward his hands are at impact on that driver.

Couple swings from earlier this year, looks pretty similar.

Just wait a few days, you'll see plenty of Tiger swings this week :-)

I just hope for him that he found somebody who he can stick with and continue to work with for a long and successful partnership, similar to how he was with Butch Harmon (minus the ugly split at the end).

Golf Channel had a segment yesterday where Tiger was doing some kind of clinic at a range, presumably from Isleworth. Tiger pronounced he was fit and healthy, pain free, and had his club head speed back. Said he was hitting the shots now that he should be able to hit. He said something to the effect that he was trying to get himself back to just being more athletic and not over thinking things, like when he first came on tour.

FWIW and from my casual observation, his swing actually looked pretty good. Looked a little more upright to me, and also more fluid and more relaxed. Not nearly as violent as in the past, which imo is a very good thing.

This swing looks excellent.  He really looks like he's emphasizing on getting to his left side through impact....

Can't wait to see him play on the weekend.

I hate to say it, but it looks fluid, effortless, oh dear, fluid like young Rory.

Honestly guys it looks pretty similar, not much to analyze. He hasn't been working with Chris for that long and I don't think you're going to see any big picture changes like you saw when he went from Butch to Haney and Haney to Foley. There isn't any need for a big overhaul.

It's also a range swing and Tiger always does a good job with his sequencing on the range.

'12 US Open, only difference is the camera angle

From the Honda this year, closest camera angle I could find.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
