Oh geez . . . Tebow worked out for the Eagles? Say it ain't so, Chip!

I read that he's been working with a QB Guru and has learned to throw a spiral.

Yeah, but he strikes me as one of those guys who isn't inclined to throw a spiral, whether he has the ability to or not. He likes to run and take on contact, something an NFL QB just should not be doing. Tough kid, just not an NFL QB.

Is the NFL in trouble? Just a few points.

1) New studies on head injuries making parents keep their kids out of football

2) Players now are not sacrificing their futures for the low chance of having a long career in the NFL.

I could see a drop in football participation among highschool and college football. This might actually help MLB a bit with their decrease in elite athletes playing baseball.

This was discussed in a segment on PTI yesterday. I don't normally agree with those guys but I did yesterday. Their take was that yes, there's a decline but it wouldn't really impact the pro game for 20-30 years. And who knows, by then it may have become 2-hand touch.

Cowboys just signed Greg Hardy. Definite need and he's got skilz but not sure about the baggage. May start the season with a 6-game suspension which would be tough. Appears to be some question about the charges too so I'm on the fence about the signing. Bovada has em at 16-1 to win the Super Bowl. Eagles? 18-1.

The Colts want to introduce 9-point touchdowns to the NFL

Will NFL teams be able to score 9-point touchdowns next season? If the Indianapolis Colts have their way, it will be possible.

The Colts proposed adding an additional field goal option — but only if the scoring team makes a two-point conversion first.

This is silly.

Yea that is just stupid.

If I had my way I would banish the extra point. You get 7 points for scoring a TD, and 8 points going for two. The extra kick is just automatic. I would say either tighten the field goal posts or just get rid of the extra point. I say do a combo of both. I am not a fan of kickers.

Kickers made a higher percentage of field-goal (86.5 percent) and extra-point attempts (99.6 percent) last season than they ever had before. Perhaps even more striking is how many long field-goal attempts are being made. In 2013, 67.13 percent of all field-goal attempts of at least 50 yards were good.

I like the idea of tightening the posts and making it a 40-yard kick, which I think will entice teams to go for 2 more frequently. That would be fun.

I really like the narrower posts that the AFL uses. They're a little less than half as wide as the NFL ones (IIRC, NFL posts are a little more than 18' across, while the AFL uses 9' ones).

I like the idea that you can either kick the extra point as is, or go for two with the ball on the one yard line.

I agree with this, but you lose the ability to line up for a field goal and then trick play your way to 2 points.. I realize thatI don't happen often, but isn't that the point of the trick play? Maybe it is a small price to pay to speed things up.. Keep the kickers though, I still like the idea of 3 point field goals!

I'd rather see extra points be from a longer distance to even out the odds of success between them and 2 point plays.  The way it is today, teams almost never opt for 2 point plays unless the score and time remaining dictates it because the extra point has near 100% certainty of going in.  If the extra point were from 40 yards out, teams might be more likely to go for 2.

Teams will just find some Rugby Sevens players to drop kick extra points, last I knew you can drop kick a field goal or extra point from anywhere behind the line of scrimmage...

This is just strange to me,

Just kinda shocked that the probability drops dramatically once you get 5 yards an in.

Still, if you can get above 50% probability you will score more points over the course of a season going for two points than extra point.

Probability likely drops because defenses have less square yardage to defend.

Its' 68% dropping to 25%, then rising again to 50%. I just find it strange, 1 yard drops it 40% then it starts to go back up. Something doesn't seem right. Maybe it is the way downs work or play calling.

Very true... Here's a thought... start assessing offensive "dead ball" fouls on the try... that will lower the percentage of successful point after attempts

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere.
