There should be a vote on whether TST thinks Tiger will make the cut or not. I think the majority is still going to say no....but with the recent "worst ball round", who the hell knows.

Who would know no matter what happened last week?

I'll tell you on Friday evening. :-)

Really glad he's playing. However, I will say this. Next week begins what I think is the most important 3-4 month stretch of Tiger Woods' career. If Tiger Woods doesn't find his game by the end of the year, I don't think he'll ever get it back. I firmly believe that.

There's already been a question of whether he's lost some of his passion for the game, which I personally think he has. I've been saying all along I think his poor play this year has a lot to do with a lack of motivation, something Hank Haney also alluded to. I think the lack of passion has affected his mental game. However, I think he's gotten some of it back the last few weeks working hard and putting the time in. There are reports of him getting "that edge back."  If all this work he's putting in doesn't net the results, it's going to take another big mental toll on him. A lot of golfers will tell you that when you lose your game and you put a lot of time in to get it back and it doesn't come back, it just destroys your confidence.

Good news! Tiger doing what tiger does! Play golf! It's gonna Be a strong field. I've already told the the wife not to make plans next Sunday, and if she does, to not include me as I'll be disappearing for most of the day! I have to say though, I would have been very disappointed if tiger had not played!

I totally agree.

Next week is going to be hugely important, to the point where if he doesn't play well, we will have to pretty much accept that the Tiger era is well and truly over, sad as that may be for some to accept.

Especially now that the confidence issue seems to be in the equation, which it never ever was before in a negative sense.

True, but prior to the worst ball article I think 95% of TST would have voted no to making the cut.

I went to the thread and voted for 148 two day score, which may not be enough to make the cut.   I don't believe I was the only one.   Although we like to see Tiger play, many of us are not convinced he has regained his touch.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
