I play around once a week and my sand wedge wears out pretty quick. I've had this one since August of last year and it's already looking pretty rough.

I apologize for having a spam URL in my signature and will not do it again.

My short game isn't great so I've been going through wedges pretty quickly trying to find ones that I'm comfortable with.

5+ years. Bought a set of three CG14s in 2009 and just replaced the lob wedge last year. Still play the SW (but I was thinking about replacing it this year) and I use the GW from my iron set.

I've bought many, but one of my wedges I've been using for 20 years. Grooves seem worn-which is why I have bought a few thing to replace it-but it still feels good and performs.

I've had my LW for 3 years and my SW for ... 5 or 6 years? Maybe 7. That sounds crazy. Yeash.

I've purchased a good amount a wedges mostly from toying around with loft gaps and bounce combos. I think I have about nine extra wedges laying around the basement and maybe half of them still get broken out every once in a while.

I probably should replace more often than I do ... oddly since they don't come in my iron sets which I seem to replace every 18'ish months, the wedge are sort of forgotten about and last 2+ years.

Had my prior wedges for 5+, and they probably would have lasted a few more. Since switching to forged wedges, I can't see them lasting longer than 2-3 years. I'm on year 3 and my LW and SW have about had it... The GW will last a bit longer as it doesn't get as much use

This is so odd. My coworkers and I were discussing this exact topic today. One of whom said he feels like it should be every year or so. I have had mine for 2 full seasons and the start of this season so I'm going with 2-4 years. I will hopefully have a new set buy the end of this season or the beginning of next.

Every 2 - 4. Usually when its all beat up, I will try a new one.  I usually buy them used on E-bay or at the golf store.

I am on my second set of wedges since starting golf.  No real plans to upgrade anytime soon.

5+ years - I don't like to feel I'm falling behind the technology.  It seems that in 5 years or so the technology changes can be significant.  This applies to all my clubs except my putter which I've had for over 10 years.

Voted 1-2 years.  I play 4-5 times per week and I practice quite a bit so my sand wedge tends to take a beating.  My stupid brain likes my wedges to match so I replace my perfectly good LW at the same time.  I usually donate it to a friend or colleague who's getting started with golf or just wants a new toy.

I voted 5+.

Right now I only buy a SW separate from from my iron set, which has a PW and AW included.  I don't use a LW.  My last SW I used about 8-10 years until the grooves started wearing out and I bought a new one about 3-4 years ago and it is holding up fine.  I am lucky to get 20 rounds in a year so my wedges last a while.

I replace my 56° often. my 52 and 60 not yet for 5 years +.

My 56° gets really used from short game practice I do a lot. It wears down a lot in bunkers that have very little sand (most local bunkers).

I keep them a while though and like using it down. my first vockey lasted 3 years and you could not read the 56 dent on the sole. :bugout:

My second I just changed, the 2 first grouves have almost disapeared and it seams like the bottom of the sweet spot is concaved from wearing out.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
