Looking forward to this a lot. Love the Match Play format, not sure if that poule system will be an improvement but the mano a mano matches will be great anyway.

Not a fan of the new format, but understand why they're doing it. Will still watch. Hopefully the cream rises to the top and we have a good weekend of matches.

Luke Donald will skip it to attend his brothers wedding, so Jimenez will take his spot. Francesco Molinari will take the injured Tim Clark's position.

So Ilonen got in. One to watch I guess, he won last's years Volvo World Matchplay after beating Luiten in the semi final, and Stenson in the final.

I love match play...I just wish they could find a way to implement it into the FedEx cup...maybe when they get down to 32 players go to the match play format

Top 64 in the Official World Golf Rankings qualify.  He's seeded #115, so he's not in the OWGR top 64.

Maybe it's me and I've missed something extraordinary but how does Anirban Lahiri get to 34 in the world? Something must be screwy with the OWGR.

they should have a 3-4 wild cards......lol that the PGA is trying to copy college basketball's successful "Selection Sunday" somewhat......

The groups have been drawn. I don't see any obvious groups of death, but McIlroy, Watson, Walker, and Dustin Johnson will all have tough tasks to get out of their groups unscathed. Also worth pointing out: the Harding Park course is routed this week like it was during the Presidents Cup in 2009, with the normal finishing stretch of holes along Lake Merced playing as holes 10 through 14.

In my UnderArmour Links stand bag...

Dang this would be a good one for DraftKings but I don't see a contest.

Dave :-)
