Played 18 in rain. After the round I practiced short putts because it was unfortunately a glaring weakness today.

Made it home this afternoon. First time all week I had a club in my hands. Took slow swings working on right elbow location.

I worked on my tweaked mapping drill from my new evolvr lesson. I worked on it for about 15 mins then hit 4 full swing pw. 3 were pure one was a little heavy but not bad.

Worked on my grip and a few moves in the backswing. Managed to sneak in a little bunker practice as well.

Putted for 10 minutes.  12' and 15' on the practice green at my instructor's studio.  Later, some swing work in my house.  Stay back and don't move forward on the balls of my feet during downswing.

May 14, (14 in a row)

Work on the putting green 8 footers - straight putts just working on the putting stroke and making good contact.

Played a round today - very happy 73 at Ocean View (par 70)...  two birdies, but sunk a few good putts and got away with a few misses.  Chipping was good...  I feel like chipping into the box, has helped me identify and get a better feel for where my ball is going to land.  Very happy with recovery shots and getting up and down today.  Nothing spectacular, but good round.

I watched a lot of slow mo video of pros and then tried to emulate in front of a mirror what their lower body looked like throughout the swing. I'm feeling pretty lost on this. I think I am going to take a couple lessons at my golf course so I can feel what the right way looks like and then remember that feeling for practice. I've been practicing and taking video about once a week and the video shows me that what I think I am doing and what I am actually doing are very different.

Slow motion mirror. Hi very poorly the other day (after hitting my best ever a few days before). Figured out that I was sliding my hips and not sliding-rotating as I have been doing. So worked on that today

May 14 - Nike Tour Van day!

For warm-up, I did the Gold Flex drills - feet together then normal stance, about 10 minutes.

Then, Nike van fitting. (Separate item in Clubs/Grips forum.)

After fitting, I hit two small buckets of balls at the range. I worked on 5i, driver, and 4H.

Good shots result when I: take a full shoulder rotation w/o going too far back, and kick hips on downswing. My right ankle was a bit sore, and I didn't step through the ball as well as I should.

Focus, connect and follow through!

More putting practice with Edel putter at home.  The new putter working very impressively.  Only if my Aimpoint application works that well ....

Went to range for the 1st time in 6 days.  Went through wedges, irons, 3 hybrid, 3 wood, driver swing check.  Focused on driver after the check.  Like a stubborn mule, my swing keep wanting to revert back a bad form and I have to keep putting it back again.   Bent left wrist at the top was the culprit this time.

Mirror work after work. (it's still 5/14 here). If this awful Southern California May weather clears up, I should be able to hit the range this weekend.

5 minutes this morning focusing on the same priority pieces.  Trying to add a bit more speed, specifically from A1 to A6 while laying the shaft down once I get to the top of the backswing.

5 minutes this morning focusing on the same priority pieces.  Trying to add a bit more speed, specifically from A1 to A6 while laying the shaft down once I get to the top of the backswing.

I started trying to vary my swing speed, and the results are not consistent. It seems like I can vary the speed, but not exactly how I expect.

Just wondering if there is a drill you are specifically doing to vary your swing speed?

I got rained out again today. So, no "5 minutes" outdoors. Just doing mirror work, trying to keep the hands close to the body as is my current priority.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
