I'll be incorporating this into my practice tomorrow. How specifically did you do it?

I just set the camera to slo mo, find a suitable place to stand the phone - I lean it against a window which looks out onto the back garden - press record and swing away. The quality of the 240fps playback is superb.

Went to the range last night. Tweeked my swing to a what feels like a slighly inside take away opposed to a stiff left arm and almost straight back. I got great results, but now my driver is off.

So this morning I had my 8 year record my take away in the garage as I took some swings. Both swings look the same but feel different.

With the new plane there seems to be no potential for my left wrist to keep the club face open.

I guess if I can hit an 8 iron 165 dead straight, than a slightly different swing path is not that bad.

Now I have to just get over having watched video of myself swinging. I am not a pretty golfer, less so at 6 am!

5 minutes this morning.

My Evolvr instructor said to incorporate keeping my left wrist flat or bowed at A4 so did some slow swings stopping at A4, laying the shaft down and bowing my left wrist, continuing and stopping at A6 to check my form, and continuing on to A8/A9 focusing on keeping my hips forward and head back to get a reverse C look.

Spent the last 2 hours at work reading about golf planes.

Videos, text and watching my own video.

I think I am on the right path to correcting and proper plane!

Might run over to the big golf box store on my lunch and "test" a club.

More of the same in the garden plus chipping practice, trying to get the ball to stop not far from where it lands.

5 Minutes of practice swings in front of a mirror this morning. I'm working on getting the hip turn on my backswing to feel like second nature.

May 19 -

After a month of sampling oversized putter grips such as Super Stroke, I decided to make the move.

As of today, my Ping Scottsdale B60 putter has a Winn ProX 1.18" grip.  I got it regripped in early afternoon, and then went out at 4 PM to test it out.

The thicker grip has a flat paddle strip on the front to rest the thumbs, and this particular thickness fills my hand just right, taking up the slack that contributes to left and right wobble. I spent about 20 minutes testing it out. On first try, i sank four out of five 10-foot putts. It was much easier to hold the line on long lag putts, but I'll need more work on distance control.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Spent some time reading through: How to Grip a Golf Club: The Commonalities of a Functional Golf Grip and then spent a good amount of time making sure my grip was correct, then putting the club down, picking it back up, and going through checklist to make sure I gripped it correctly.

After that, I did some practice with this drill:

Spent an hour and a half working on my distance wedges and pitching.

Figured out the sequence for it. I started off bad then I just focused on taking the club back the distance I want and turning through the ball. Just trust that I know that length of swing will get the ball to where I want. When I did that I hit 25 balls into a 20 foot area, easy pick up :)

Another range session. The second half of the bucket I tried hitting at "game speed" ... a few well, some not so much, but not really bad either. Also hit a few drivers. All in all, excited for this weekend.

Lag drill hitting balls into the net again. Probably going to stick with this one plus some Key #1 stuff for a while. Finally beating this infection and should be finally playing a full round this Thursday. I'm betting it'll pay off.

Warm up with the orange whip.  Then 40 minutes in the net.  7i, 4 hybrid and driver.  Nice tempo.  Pretty good contact.  In between, did some dry swings over the grass, no ball.  Worked on not shifting weight forward (towards ball).  On video, this is my main flaw.  My body weight falls to the balls of my feet and My head moves forward and down.  I either compensate or hit off the heel/shank.  Felt like my weight stayed centered today.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
