We have a biggest jerk thread going, but who are the genuine nice guys out there right now? I've heard that Joey Sindelar is one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet, as is Nick Price, and then there's Arnie. Who is it in today's group?

Jim Furyk, Jimmy Walker, Jerry Kelly, and Angel Cabrera all seem like genuinely good guys.

Bill Haas and Jordan Spieth come to mind for me.

"Nice" is so subjective that I wouldn't really be comfortable calling any of them "nice" just from secondhand knowledge.

Agree, but if we're just gonna guess based off appearances, I'm leaning towards Matt Kuchar.

I guess, but I've heard enough stories about PGA Tour players being nice on the outside but dicks in private that I'm a little skeptical

So many different ways people are nice to others. I bet there are about 25 (maybe more) guys who could compete for the top spot. Tiger included. I think players get a raw deal where all it takes is one pissed autograph seeker to paint someone an a$$hole. All other good can be flushed down the drain.

EDIT: None of the players who polled Ricky F as overrated qualify though. What an a$$hole thing to say even if it were remotely true. Not nice.

I know a few people who've met Rickie Fowler in person (away from the golf course) and every one of them said that he's very friendly and down to earth.  One of my friends ran into him in a coffee shop in Murrieta, CA (Rickie's home town) and said Rickie was more than happy to take a picture with him and talk to him for a few minutes.  He said Rickie treated him like a friend rather than a disturbance to his day, as some of the pros have a reputation for.

Rickie has really surprised me, and in a good way. Early on in his career I wasn't a fan of his. He was a bit cocky, and I'll tell you straight up that I'm not a fan of cockiness if you haven't earned it. Hunter Mahan's a name that comes to mind there. If you've earned it, be cocky all you want. But over the last few years he's really turned into a classy kid. Very down to earth, very friendly and humble. He's earned a lot of points with me. He's now one of the guys I really root for on Sunday.

Billy's growing up. When he was first contending a couple years ago, he was very immature. They mentioned last week as well how he was a bit immature on the course as an amatuer. But he's made a lot of strides in the right direction really since he won at Zurich in '13. He's still feisty and a bit wired out there, but in a way that I like it. Plus I'm a Gators fan so he wins points with me there :)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
