I guess this thread proves that Rory isn't Tiger. Dude plays a perfect round on a brutal course, beats his own course record, and it gets 4 posts.

I'd still like to know 'what is HAM'?

Yeah, Rory's playing good.  Just warming up for his national open, THE IRISH OPEN, 2 weeks hence.

Yup.

Rory is more like Phil in the sense that he'll MC and then shoot 61, while every week Tiger was kind of giving us his A or B game. Rory will go D, C, D, A+, A, B+, C, D, A+…

I would add more As, A+, B, A, A, B in there....

Tiger was a true tactician who was more like Michael Jordan in a sense. He out worked everyone, out thought everyone and out played everyone. He didn't want to settle for winning tournaments when his game was on. He wanted his bad round to be good enough to beat half the field.

The stuff Rory can do when he's on is at the level Tiger was. Its just putting in that exorberant amount of effort to make it week in and week out.

This round shows how dominant a A game Rory can be. It is scary good. It is Tiger good. He's just not consistent enough to be considered Tiger Dominant.

After read Speith's GD article on putting I'm shocked he makes any putts at all. The only explanation I can come up with is he has trained his brain to over-read the break the exact amount necessary to counteract the fact that he aims directly at the apex of the break.

Wow, Rory. Stop making us all look bad. That was a fun round round to watch.

Glad I had the DVR running today.

TGC should have it on later, right?  I was watching the Rangers game so only caught a couple of holes.

I agree with this post. When Rors is on, he is straight up scary...

Yeah, but the big difference between Rory and Phil is Rory's A+ game can go toe-to-toe with Tiger's A+ game in his prime. Rory is that good. Phil's A+ game still couldn't match either one of them. Of course, some may differ in their opinion and I respect that, but I personally think when Rory's on the top of his game, no one can touch him...not even the 2015 version of Tiger Woods. He is that good. He has that ability to dominate and he's showing that this week. Even his physique is looking like that of Tiger in the early 2000s (not sure if that's a good thing, though).

The biggest reason why Rory won't move the needle as much is because he's European. Simple as that. If he was American born and bred, it'd be a different story.

Grr.

Apparently TGC stream gets through my office's security team but I got this when I logged on:

There's also this resource for streaming coverage (usually not available on Sat & Sun of bigger tournaments): http://pgatour.cbssports.com/live/

Glad it let me catch some of Rory's great round!

Not yet at least. He may grow into his scrambling and putting skills more slowly than Tiger who was a more complete / polished player early on.

One thing to consider is that Spieth's involvement may have been limited to a short interview session and did not necessarily involve review of the graphics. His definition / visualization of 'apex' may differ from the author's.

Last week PReed was asked about being part of the "young guns", Rory, Jordan, Ricky, and himself. He was humble but he mentioned that if they all 4 had their A games, it would be a helluva battle. Kinda made sense at the time but after yesterday, I don't think there's any question that Rory's A game is a step or 2 ahead of the other 3. That was phenomenal.

Rickie shot 8 under for his final 10 holes at the Players.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
