If I had a dollar for every time I've heard Tiger say "I got stuck between patterns", I'd prolly make more money than he has this year. So sick and tired of hearing him say that.

It's actually a running joke between my friend and I for over a year.. When ever I don't play well, which is often, I say, well I am changing my swing, what do you expect! ;)

That was a pretty amazing performance by Rose on the 72nd hole...drive into a bunker, hit someone in the gallery with your approach shot and knock him to the ground, go up there and deal with him, turn around and hit a great pitch, then sink a knee-knocker of a putt to force the playoff.  He had a lot going on there and showed some real focus.

Congrats and kudos to Lingmerth.  The kid bucked the pressure and kept it together all weekend to stay in contention, then held his own against a determined, seasoned veteran in the playoff and ground out a good win!

[ETA:] How about the Erik Compton story?  That has to be the most amazing story of the entire weekend: http://www.cbssports.com/golf/eye-on-golf/25207898/erik-compton-randomly-met-the-aunt-of-the-person-whose-heart-he-has

I was there Thursday as a spectator and Friday working Shotlink on #7. Tiger's ball flew right over our heads and was the only player to hit one outside of the ropes off the tee that day. I was joking about the short bunker in front of us that nobody would hit, but then Justin Leonard put it in. Camillo's ball landed 3' from me as I was curled up in the fetal position waiting for it to hit me in the bum. I helped John Huh find his ball in the opposite rough since the marshal wasn't paying attention. It's good that I saw it bounce and land because you could hardly see this ball standing right over it. Not even a thank you... The highlight of the day was marking DJ's measly 352 yard drive.

I didn't get many pictures given the phone and camera policies, but I did sneak a few.

Cink's ball. Gotta love the rough there.

Shot of the 18th green from the pavilion.

My hole early Friday morning getting prepped. It's amazing to watch. All bunkers are hand raked. Fairways are mowed and then a team of guys go over it with blowers to get rid of any clippings. The rough is NOT mowed, but I imagine you would need a powerful mower with very sharp blades. The greens were mowed and rolled in the morning AND the afternoon after play. Finally, the rough is combed with a rake to remove tire tracks from equipment.

As I was walking across the fairway back to my car, I grabbed a closeup. So pure...

Is it expected of you guys to help find their balls or you did it out your good will?

No. That is the marshal's job. If this guy wasn't chatting with his friends outside the ropes, he may have seen it. Our job is to shoot the balls so they get reported back to TV talking heads. They don't care about a vast majority of shots, but when Tiger sprays one left, they are immediately on the radio trying to figure out where it is.

"Control to 7 short. Where is the shot on Tiger's ball?"

"7 short to control. We will have to wait until the hoards of people leave to take the shot."

They were on the radio A LOT looking for Tiger's balls. He definitely got the grand tour of Muirfield Village last week. ;-)

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
