Is there a "find the right ball for you" type website?

Bridgestone has a "Ball Selection Guide."

I have been very pleased with the Bridgestone e series of balls which are lower priced than the top line. Callaway Diablo and Titleist NXT are also very good.

I like the Maxfli U/3's  they are on Dick's online site for 15$ per dozen and are a good 3 piece ball, and they have last years U4's and U6's on there too at discounted prices...  so for a good quality ball you can get them at a low price point.....

It is what it is

I just wonder if you could input a series of characteristics about your game, and they could give a list of balls that would best fit your needs?

Example:  I often hit a high tee shot costing myself distance.  Sometimes a fade or draw, not a lot of distance.  i hit my irons high as well.  Not a lot of back spin, but I don't get much release either, probably due more to the height than the spin.  I'm happy with my iron play, but would certainly like to have a better trajectory on my tee shot with some added distance.

I understand my swing could certainly use work, but what is the best ball for my current situation?  How does one find that info?  Maybe Im using a ball that hinders me?  I would have no idea.

You could try this:  https://www.bridgestonegolf.com/

If you do the B-fit option you'll even get to talk to someone via text.

If you have launch monitor data you can enter that via the Online Guide.  Or, with the online guide you can just answer some questions.

Last week I bought a couple packs (12 balls each) of Nike PD Distance balls for $11 each at Winners.  I tested some of them in salt-water to see if the core balance was off but they were okay.

I have been playing the RZN Black as well this year but I like the PD Distance just as much.  I'll probably go get a few more packs as Winners seemed to have a bunch.

Do you do this regularly? I thought this wasn't really an issue anymore because all balls are solid cores now.

I do it occasionally when I'm getting serious about my game.  I'm no expert but I don't think all the balls are perfect.  I've definitely found some new balls (premium and otherwise) that were off.

It isn't but some guys are still stuck on that myth.  Back when balls were rubber bands wound around a solid or liquid core there was more possibility that a ball could be off balance enough to affect performance for the top tier of players (for us ordinary mortals it never did make any real difference).  With modern materials and manufacturing processes, any tiny imbalance is insignificant.

If you'd like to stay in the same family of balls you have the DT Solo, Velocity, NXT Tour, and NXT Tour S.  I'm partial to the DT Solo and the Tour S as they have a softer feel in my opinion.  The DT Solo and Velocity are $20 a dozen while the two NXT Tour balls offer a bit more wedge preformance for $30 a dozen.

Also, as others have said, if you just want a lot of balls buy used.  You can get 10 dozen used balls for under $100 if you look around.

Fairway Wood - Adams Tight Lies 16 Degrees
Hybrids - 18 and 20 Degrees Adams Pro
Irons - 4-PW Adams XTD
Wedges - 52 and 56 degree Cleavland CG16

Ended up with my old standard of srixon trispeed tour 2 for 35. Not even mad. New irons came in too. Can't wait to play them....but the new pings also look amazing. ...I need to just find the set I love and play those irons forever.

Right now the Golfsmith by me (Castleton,in) has snake eyes balls. A three price ball for 9 and change. It's amazing. Don't knock it ,until you try it. It's the one in the green box. Typed in my iPhone. So if the spelling is off I'm sorry

Bridgestone Balls.......Enough said. Affordable, and they play as well as anything else on the market, except for maybe Volvik balls.

Both Snell Balls are great value. The GetSum just doesn't have the same greenside spin as the MTB. Tried them both.

Still like the Callaway SR Balls.

I have been using Maxfli U/6x prior generation.

Top shelf ball (at least they claim), but is on sale online for $22 at Dicks. Free shipping.

Plays great all around in my opinion.

I've been using the Callaway Supersoft and really like it.   I also like the Bridgestone E6 or the Srixon Q-Star.   All are affordable.

Spent last week on vacation and played a few games with friends and family. I'm a 62 year old, new to golf and have a slow swing, probably under 85. Managed a few sub 90's this year and a number of sub 100's.

Before leaving picked up a box of e6's and b330's. First three games didn't feel right. Maybe it was three different courses I've never played. 106, 105 , 103. Ball seemed to be spraying everywhere.  Couldn't control the greens.

On games 4 and 5 I switched back to the cheapest new balls I can find, the McGregor Tourney yellows-$20 bucks for 30 balls at Golf town. Been playing them regularly for a couple years.

Managed a 45, a 48 and a 49 for three of the 9's

Just seems the ball suits my swing speed. It's very soft but I have better control.

If you don't mind using used balls I'd suggest lostgolfballs.com. I get my ProV1x from there, they are AAAAA 2014's for 19.99 a dozen and free shipping over $100 and the balls are in near perfect condition. They also have many other brands, and models at great prices.

I'm a fan of the Snell My Tour Ball.  I'm normally a ProV1 guy but tried these a few weeks ago and really like them.  Just bought 6 dozen.

I couldn't tell any difference in performance from a ProV.  They do seem to have a little bit of a "clickier" sound when struck, but saw no decrease in distance or performance around the green.  If I had any complaint with them is how well they hold up.  It could just be this particular lot, but the text and logo didn't seem to hold up well (see picture).  This was from only one round of golf and I didn't hit any cart paths or trees.  Cosmetic only and saw no impact to the ball performance, but I'm somewhat ADD about the appearance of the golf ball.

I just received my 6 dozen MTB balls.  It included a personal note from Dean Snell which I thought was a nice touch.  $157.00 for 6 premium dozen balls.

Went the slightly used prov1x route and was a lil disappointed at the quality. Not horribly used but only good for maybe 3 rounds. Found a Vice ball recently. Never heard of them. Then low and behold saw an ad for em in golf digest. Looked very similar to the prov1.

    • Day 298: range session during lunch. Hit balls for about 20 minutes, focusing on start line and curve. Much better than last night. Then did a stack putting session, which was solid (for me).
    • Day 2 (3 May 24) - Played 18 with the Men’s group today….a fun round in which my elderly neighbor was part of the foursome I was in.
    • You advertise LIV as "golf but louder" You had DJ's pumping Jock Jams all over the place. You have Bros who are really into golf and TFG shot gunning 26 oz bud lights, while double fisting a 19 oz coors. What type of behavior do you expect?
    • Did LIV pros cross ‘etiquette’ line at Masters? 3-time major winner has thought Did LIV Golf pros cross an “etiquette” line last month at the Masters? Three-time major winner Padraig Harrington has a thought. I do not mind cursing. I rather see some emotion on the course and honest reactions to bad shots or what not. I didn't catch it being a TON of cursing in this Masters. It was not noticeable.
    • I had to think about this topic for a while. I don't tend to remember specific details about my putts, but a few do stand out in my mind so I guess they're worth noting. I don't know that I'd call them my favorite but it's close enough. #18 at Spooky Brook Might be the hardest 4' putt I've ever had. Pin was back right and I hit my third shot just to the right of it. The green slopes fairly severely back to front. I read the green but I knew the putt anyway as I've seen it before. I told the guys I was playing with that the putt was it was going to break almost 3' and if it doesn't go in I'd have a longer coming back up for par than I was looking at. It went in. #12 at Quail Brook I'm not even sure how to describe this green properly. It's not quite a two-tiered green, but the back and front are separated by a ridge that goes across the middle of it, with the green sloping harder off the front than the back. You can generally putt from the front to a back hole location but good luck keeping the ball on the green if you putt from back to front. On this particular day, I was looking at the latter. I had to putt up into the apron due to how the ball was going to break and that helped slow the ball down enough to hit the hole at the perfect speed. One of the rare birdies I've seen on that hole. #2 at Hyatt Hills Short par 5. This makes the list because it's the first eagle putt I've ever made, which funny enough happened the day after the first eagle I've ever made. I've made two eagles in all my life and they came on back to back days. I wasn't even planning on playing golf - it was a Monday - but I was doing some work at the place I used to work at when I was younger and catching up with some of the guys I've known for years. They were going out to play in the afternoon and had a spot available. I used to see these guys every day for years but we've never played together, so I said I'm in. I hit a really good approach shot into slope that separated the two tiers on the green and spun the ball closer to the hole. Had roughly 8' left to the hole, a downhill right to left breaker. One of the guys said, "You've got to make this, I've never seen an eagle before," and I said, "I've never made an eagle putt before." And then I made it. #17 at Stoneleigh @GolfLug's post reminded me of my own heroics on #17 a couple of years ago. The hole was back left, in the bottom tier. I hit my approach short of the green and flubbed my chip so it stayed on the top tier. I read how the putt was going to break after the ramp (is that what you call it?), then read my putt up to that point. It needed to basically die at that point because if it hit the slope with any kind of speed, it would long past the hole and possibly off the green. I hit the putt perfectly and holed the 40-footer center cup. #6 at Meadow at Neshanic Valley, #15 in the Round This was during the stroke play qualifier of my tournament. It might be a little bit of recency bias and I hit some really good long putts in the four rounds I played, but this 7-footer was my favorite putt of the entire tournament. The hole was cut on the top of a ridge. I hit my tee shot short right but hit a pretty good chip just long and below the hole. Play had backed up at this point, with the ladies waiting on the tee while we were finishing up. I hit the putt just a hair on the high side and it curled around the hole, fell back a couple of inches and stopped on lip. We all looked at it incredulously, "How does that not fall in?" Before I took my first step towards the hole, the ball must have thought the same thing and decided to drop.
