"On the last hole of the Bryon Nelson in 2012, I hit a sand wedge to 25 feet. When I got 60 yards from the green, I looked up and saw myself making the putt. Total deja vu. When the putt went in, it was hard to act excited, because in my mind the sequence had already played out. I'm a strong believer in visualization and read a great book once that explained the techniques of Russian weightlifters, who are very good at it. But here is the thing: Can we get to the point where we can will the deja vu moments to happen, instead of just hoping they will? Maybe. That's one of the mystical things about Golf that keep us coming back." (Jason Dufner , Golf Digest Aug. 2014) Any mystical experiences to share? What do you think of his comments?

There are times when I KNOW I will make the putt. For some reason, I get this weird visualization of the line. Like it's the most clear thing I've seen all day. And I just drain the putt. This might only happen once or twice a year. Otherwise, those late twilight rounds you play as a single? When the course is empty and summer is wheezing its last couple of breaths? Those are mystical....

Shanks. As mystical as something can be. There are times when they literally feel like a virus. I can be walking to the range and have this strange vibe, almost a numbing feeling. I can stand over a ball and just know I'm going to shank. No, it's not that silly cliche of "whether you think you can or can't you're right." It goes beyond that. I've been playing before, good ball striking and all of a sudden it hits me like I just ate potato salad and got a mild staph infection. I've even placed a board down on the range to help with my shanks...Lo and behold the board is untouched yet I still shank. Mystical to say the least.

I really like sunny, morning rounds on a fall Saturday. When it's just cold enough where you have to wear long sleeves and pants, but not too cold or windy. Those days feel very mystical to me.

Ditto for me especially in New England area where the leaves are just turning color.  It's almost paradise.

One of the greatest mystical (mysterious?) thing about golf?  Shooting 75 one day and 89 the very next day or vice versa.

How is it I can thin a 20 yard up and down a little over the green and then walk over to the other side and not find my ball? Or hit a slice off the fairway watch it bounce off the cart path and then poof it's gone forever. I wanna know who these mystical ball thieves are.

Getting the first tee time in the fall, when its just cool enough to consider wearing a jacket, and its all quiet, with no one on the course, and you rip that beautiful drive through the fog into the the abyss that is the first fairway.

Thanks, really appreciate it -- I'm a professional photographer, so it means a lot! Especially as it was just a quick snap with my iPhone from the chipping practice area. :)

I'd venture a guess that just taking the time to chase that little ball around is a bit on the mystical side of the planets being in the right house at the right time............. :~(

I have had that mystical feeling several times, except for ripping the beautiful drive part.

Yeah, it does not happen very often. That one time in the fog though was beautiful.
