always wanted to ask a big group of golfers what sorts of strange things they have seen on the course. Lots of golfers on the sand trap. So c'mon, lets hear it.

Probably not strange for people who play in my neck of the woods but I enjoyed watching three deer grazing in front of our final green this past Saturday.

Saw one of these on the golf course I play. Drove it right on to the practice green and practiced putting. Only saw it one time.

On our league course we see deer and sand cranes frequently.  Last week we had one crane flair its wings to protest our presence.     Pretty cool.

From the land of perpetual cloudiness.   I'm Denny

Saw one of these one day too. Don't know if it was poisonous, and I didn't ask. We said "Good, Good" on that hole. :-) PS, this is a stock picture.

Saw what at first appeared to be - at a distance - a tree branch.  Upon closer inspection, it was a part of the front leg of a deer.  Apparently a mountain lion had feasted on a dear near one of the greens the night before.

Came out one morning, we were the first people on the course that day, and we saw something really strange on the 7th green. The course was really deep inside of a neighborhood, and a really nice neighborhood which made this even more bizarre to see. Somebody had taken one of those giant horse stuffed animals -- like the 5 foot long ones -- and set it on fire on the green. There was a nice giant scorched spot, and all that was left was its tail, nose, bits of fluff in the middle, and it's googly eyes just laying where the head was staring up . . . it was actually a pretty creepy sight. I three-putted.

A few weeks ago I came upon a coyote chewing on one of the tee box markers like a stick. We shoo'ed him away but he destroyed that thing lol.

Saw a guy rifling through range bags looking for golf ball gold.

Then there was this stocky guy, who would swing and fart, swing and fart, swing and fart.

It was almost a ballet.

Also that same day we got paired up with a guy that actually bounces his club off of his butt he swings so far back on his bs. It had to "bounce" really hard for him to start the downswing like a pinball.

I saw stars in the clouds for like 5 minutes once. Top Flite on the top of the head from about 200 yards out.

Started mid June playing...

So far

-  I was on the chipping/practice green finishing up.  One of the local dogs that takes care of critter management walked up on to the green and started pissing.  When it was done it went down to one of the bunkers and rolled around.  After that, it went back to the clubhouse porch and fell back asleep.

ahhh, a stroke. .. that explains your lack of logic in the ball thread.

Good luck with your recovery.

Lol thanks. I just made my final post there since many don't understand. Not going to beat a dead horse. If maybe others ranged at the more upscale places that I have they might have the same perspective as me. Life experiences shape us all.

Once upon a time, I saw a guy on the driving range at our private club. He found a brand new white ProV among the yellow-striped range balls.

He slipped it into his bag . . . and nobody cared.

    • Day 37, June 10.  Today was primarily WFH, so I had several practice sessions (indoors, off a mat, into the net).  At least one each of U, 9, and 6-iron full swings with the usual priority.   I also tried a few times a putting type stroke with my 4H, as something I should probably learn how to hit (and what it does), but the mechanical shot at home off a mat doesn't tell me much of what it's doing.  That's something I should probably try on a real green, not during a round until I've tried it.
    • Day 10 (10 Jun 26) - Played in the midweek shootout at my home course - on aerated and sanded greens - day of trying to figure tempo to get the best roll on the greens.  Approach game was decently solid as was shots off the tee.
    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
