Wow a great thread and I appreciate you guys putting together. My take away is to slow down a bit, and don't try to muscle clubs in ... (if that makes sense)

Seriously, go try to hit your 8-iron 110 yards at lunch today. You'll probably do fine the first time you try it.

Deal.

I'll report back.

Yup, they certainly made it seem very effortless.

Agreed with this...as a high-handicapper, I was surprised that the one-club scramble (every shot with a 6-iron) was actually not as difficult as I thought.  I didn't have to think "Hmmm...is this a 50% 6-iron?"

Not that I was nailing every distance, but it was certainly easier than I had expected.

A question if I may to @iacas and @mvmac ... when you step up to the ball, you seem to place your right foot and club in some alignment, then step in with the left foot ... What are you aligning to? I pick a spot in front of my ball, but step in with my left foot first ... I would like to try a different approach ... can you share a bit on your process? Up to the point when you take your stance with the left foot in place. (Hope the question makes sense)

Man.  If I could hit half that many fairways and greens, I'd be a happy camper.

Uhhhh… can I say "no" to that?

Cuz… I don't practice different distances. Like, ever. I just… hit the 9-iron 120 yards when I need to. I am not saying this is some awesome skill unique to me… I think you could do this a lot better right now than you're crediting yourself.

OK, you were right.  There was a 120 target I use often and I hit two 8-irons at it today, one at the beginning and one at the end.  First came out a little lower and hotter than I was expecting and bounced to 130-135 or so, and the other pushed slightly but was pretty much exactly 120. :P

When I do this?

I had to watch to video to see what you're talking about because I don't really think that much about it. My tendency is to get too closed (aimed right) with my feet so I like to come into the ball "open" then square up. So here's my routine.

- Take one or two practice swings standing behind the ball.

- Stand behind the ball and pick a spot in front of the ball where I want the ball to start.

- Walk into the ball, aim the face at that spot, then aim the body parallel left.

- Do my Mike Weir practice waggle, then hit it.

You forgot your little Tourette's taps between the waggle and hitting it. :-P

Yes the above photo is a example and thanks for the thought process ... I tend to line my body first ... I am going to give this a try this weekend ... Thanks again

Interesting. When I had my driver slice curing lesson last year, my pro had me step in with the other foot to help encourage me to close up my body.

Cool video guys. Erik what is that little twitch you got going on with your left arm? I seem to notice it more on your drives vs your approach shots.

Looks like a shirt sleeve issue if I had to guess. Quote from the Vlog - "Mike plays a draw, OF COURSE" - you bastards...

Yep. Working on minimizing it. Hate how it looks basically and nothing really changes.

Try a less baggy shirt? IDK… just a suggestion, I like the more athletic cut shirts with tighter sleeves because I'm a douchebag, don't have the sleeve issue with them.
