97 (+12, +13). Could have and should have been better but not horribly mad at it. Was playing in 20-25mph gusty winds, had 5 penalties. Actually hit the ball pretty well, left a couple birdie putts short as usual.

Aerated greens + playing with three slow hackers + inconsistent ballstriking = a 96. I'm so sick of shooting in the 90s.

Hitting a horrible tee shot into a hilly rough on a par 3, 156 yards. I was about 70 yards away, so I took out my PW. Ended up hitting the ball 3 feet away from the hole. Putted it in for par after.

101 at Salinas Fairways GC. This is the best 100+ score ever for me. Great ball striking, just couldn't make a putt. 5 birdie chances, 4 turned into 3 putt bogeys.... Need to learn to score!

99 at the Arboretum club. Although it wasn't my best score of the year, it was easily my best round of the year. This course is probably the most challenging I've ever played. It is isn't the longest, but it has water on over 50% of the holes. I put the driver away except on two long holes without water and actually hit 6 fairways. I only managed 1 GIR, but also putted very well. Only 30 putts (good for me ) and 1 3-putt. I'm still struggling with making good contact with my irons but it's getting better.

Front 9: 48
Back 9: 45
Total: 93

Very Windy conditions today, it was interesting out there

First round with my new TaylorMade r9 460 driver. I hit a bunch of fairways but my wedge game and putting was awful. Hit the farthest drives of my life today. Drove a par 4 green and such. Still had my holes when it sliced hard right but thats just my swing sometimes.

Today I played match play against my mate giving him 7 shots and also kept a record of my score. My day started off very badly and i was 5 over after 3. I followed this with 11 straight pars which was awesome. Finished 8 over par for a net 56. Some how i managed to loose my match 1 down despite playing one of my best rounds ever.

my last 2 times out....
37 (best ever on 9)
39

i normally shoot anywhere from 42-46 at my local course. I was frustrated because everything i hit was hooking. So i took 2 weeks off, went out after work on wed and shot a 37. Thought it was a fluke, so i went out thurs and shot a 39.

needless to say im pleased with how im playing now.

    • Yes. If you choose to take the ball out of the bunker instead of taking maximum available relief… it costs a stroke.
    • I got another one today....Number 17. Par 5 that has water left and right on the layup. I smacked a drive down the left side and got a little lazy on the layup and fanned my 6 iron. With 112 to a crowned green I got it to 3 feet and birdie!  Only 5 and 15 is left for this year!
    • Maybe I didn’t explain this properly. Back and front can be confusing.  There was no place in the bunker that didn’t have 2-3 inches of rain water in it, except for a small spot on the slope nearest the pin. If I had dropped there I would be moving 6-7 feet closer to the hole. Since my ball was just inside the bunker, farthest side from the hole, I dropped one club length backward, which brought me out of the bunker. I could not have hit from that deep of water. Are you saying I would have had to take a penalty stroke due to rain water?
    • Day 550, May 5, 2024 Got a good hour in with a typical (for me) two-stick setup: pool noodle angled in front, yardstick on the ground angled 45° behind me.
    • Day 130: Cinco de Mayo Day 7/24 of Full Speed Spectrum training. Difficult training day after struggling to certify my warmup yesterday, and today. Finished 13 mph lower than my training speed on Thursday. Hope to hit some balls today.
