Decided to move back to the "Championship" tees which are 6300 yards total and ended up shooting my best 9 ever at 37.  I didn't get as many GIR as I did playing from the 5300 tees but I managed to save par just about every hole.  And then my wrist started killing and I shot +6 the back nine.  Pretty new at golf though so I'm satisfied with my progress.

shot a 41 in my league last night..

left a TON of shots out there. Including a smashed drive that got stuck in a tree and a 20 yard shank of the tee box on a par 3 that led to a bogey, as well as two 3 putts.

Its a shame cause I started off strong with a great drive leaving only a 5i (my taylormade 5i = your 4i...lol) into the green on the dog left par 5. Stuck it to about 25 feet and proceeded to 3 putt for a par....

burned the lip on some pretty good birdie chances.

all in all i had 6 pars, 2 doubles, and 1 bogey. A majority of the pars being tap ins.

its a shame cause i had my tempo down perfectly coming to the end of the round.

Shot an even par 36 at my home 9-hole course. Hit 7 of 9 greens, 5 of 7 fairways (two I missed just off the short grass). +2 going into 6, but birdied 6 and 9 to get it back to level.

Hi guys, I haven't posted for a couple months now, web pag crashed everytime I tried to open it. Bit of good news to report. Had 39 points today for second place in local comp. I won the open day at my club last week with 62 points for 27 holes. My h/c is now down to 23. Almost lost a shot a month so far and the tgt of 20 by seasons end is looking very reachable. Very happy with my game ATM :-D

I knew I shouldn't have opened this thread rofl, just makes me feel bad about my game. Shot 97 last night on course I hadn't played in over 3 yrs, that was with something like 6 drops. Somehow 2 balls got lost that were just off the fairway.... After 2+ years of not playing and only having about 6 rounds in I am not too upset, but jeeze the scores on this thread make me want to hang up my clubs and stay at home.

Terrible tonight. Couldn't hit anything but my 3 wood and 60* wedge. Everything else was horrendous.

On the bright side, this course has some of the toughest greens in the area, fast and slopey, and I managed only 14 putts. I was money inside of 12 feet, and even though I had some 40+ footers, never more than a 2 putt.

Just an example aimed at no one in particular. If you hit 40 or 44 on 9 holes that does not mean you shot an 80 or 88. Quit it. That means you played half a round and finished before fatigue could set in. :-P

Shot a 104 yesterday.  55 on the front, 49 on the back. Short game was the problem big time.  I was driving decently and hit a few nice shots with my three wood, some nice iron shots too.  My chipping and putting easily added  6 or 7 strokes....  Next time!

So i'm on holiday at the moment in spain. Well a short holiday this is allready had 2 weeks Croatiä.

So my wife gave me green light to play golf when i want and as much i want.

Gotta love a wife like that.

With my family we own a house there, and normally if i go there i call my neighbor there to see if he's there also.

Called him he didn't have plans on going, but i explained what my wife said and he booked a ticket 10 mins later hehe.

He's a good player 3,2.

First we played Los Arqueros Golfclub ( absolutely brilliant course designed by Seve ) difficult but nice.

First time i played there i won a bet from my neighbor he saind i couldn't finish it between 80-89, i shot 83.

I'm on a roll lately so i had high expectations, did bring my golf set from home just plays better than my spain set off x14 irons.

Managed to play the course in the 70's for the first time, 78. holed a lot off putts. 3  birdies, 6 bogeys, 1 triple and 8 pars.

tomorrow we play La Cala and sunday we play Valderama. Would be nice to play my A game to Valdarama and see what i shoot.

Last time 95.

    • Day 14, April 22.  This morning, before going to work, I took the time to hit two dozen balls (indoors, off the mat, into the net), all with a 6-iron.  As before, this was focused on the pelvis separation and the length of the backswing -- yesterday's video view was encouraging that I'm making progress.
    • Hey folks, Here's be a better video that outlines some of my challenges.  Any suggestiosn welcome.
    • I enjoyed the distance wedges episode. It's something that I've not really taken the time to figure out for sure, but I went to a local trackman place over the winter and tested my four wedges (PW, AW, 54, 58) and got four yardages with each one. I am using Dan Grieve's method - you have a 1, 2, 3, and "full". The number references the number of clubhead widths between your heels.  I never really got to grips with the clock method - I'd find my 9:00 one day would go 40 yards and the next day 60 yards purely based on how fast I happened to swing it, but I couldn't turn that off and I was basically at sea with the speed method (Wesley Bryan does this - he takes almost a full swing for a 15 yard chip). The Grieve method I set my stance width and that really limits how much my swing moves back and forth and the speed seems to be naturally more consistent.  Anyway, I wound up with four yardages for each club - PW 48, 80, 112, 127; AW 41, 73, 101, 112; 54 36, 57, 91, 98; 58 28, 47, 81, 86 So, in order, I have 28, 36, 41, 47, 48, 57, 73, 80, 81, 86, 91, 98, 101, 112, 112, 127 which gives me a pretty good set of numbers. I do have a big gap from 57 to 73, but I can do a 2.5 58, which is giving me about 64. Then as they noted you can give it a bit more, or grip down on a club too to adjust a little bit. It's really useful and very freeing to just know what to do. When you have a 54 yard pitch, rather than pulling my 58 and thinking how hard is 54, I can just take my 54, do a "2" swing and just grip down a little and I'm in decent shape.  Incidentally, Erik talked a bit about watching Scheffler picking off his yardages to within a yard. I've watched DJ do that too with his wedges. Scottie does it trying to hit it all the way up to like 200 exactly with a 6-iron and he's hitting it 200.5, 199.7, etc. Absolutely mind blowing how good his distance control is. Insane.
