I had my first hole in one today. Yeah!

It was 174 yards in somewhat cold and windy conditions, with a 5 wood that never left the flag (it was a little left of it when it landed) and rolled in!  Just so we are clear, the 5 wood is my 190-195 yards club, but it was the right club for this job!

 congrats.

Hovering on one of the award icons beneath another members post, I realized that I qualify for another award. I did participate in the TST outing at Eagle Creek in Norwalk, OH in August of 2016. It was a fun event despite the overcast and the heavy thunderstorms on Saturday. It was kind of a good thing I couldn't make the one club, since it was cancelled.

Broke 80. The badge will encourage me further to go for the par badge because i haven't broken par yet and that'll be a massive achievement for me.

(As an aside, in Australia we have a thing called mi stats integrated with the national handicapping system GolfLink that integrates scores on a round and gives you an average, quite handy for stats).

I had a new personal best of 81 on Saturday, 41-40, so that would be for breaking 90. Not quite in the 70s yet but hopefully this summer!

No hole in one in my career but I did have an Albatross on the short par 5 fifth at Tapps Island in Washington State. It's only 443 yds but there's water from 240-260 that forces a layup or a risky attempt with driver. I was feeling good that day and managed to clear the water and stay in bounds. Hit a PW from 150 for my blind second shot over a low hill. My group gets up after 4 good shots but there's only 3 balls on the green. My folks were in town for the Open at Chambers Bay. I know I caught the wedge thin so I'm starting to walk over the green to find the ball when my ever-optimistic mom suggests checking the hole. As I'm politely laughing to myself to not hurt her feelings I hear "Is it a Callaway? There's a Callaway in here." Could have knocked me over with a feather!

I go by Pat or Patrick. Been called a lot worse so I don't mind either.

    • the rules have changed, but this would fall under 11.2 in the current rules.  General Penalty to any player who deliberately deflects a ball in motion, and you must replay the putt.
    • Day 250 4-29 Getting chest through with speed on downswing and wrist arch. Also worked on some moving the pelvis slightly away in the backswing. Feel like im going too fast and long, looks like it on the recordings too.
    • Interesting that it's no penalty, but then again, I can't imagine someone would purposefully put their foot out there in this situation or one like it.  And then there was the time someone purposefully deflected his own ball during a major, but that's very different too. The only time I can recall a ball I hit hitting another player or their equipment was ages ago -- over a decade and a half ago.  I had a 3' putt for an 89 and someone (a random pairing, not someone I knew) decided it was a good time for goaltending practice.  That wouldn't fall under this rule, though (and it wasn't in a tournament anyway). Thanks for continuing to share these, Dave!  I always find these interesting.
    • Day 51 (29 Apr 26) - Worked with a few of the golf team kids plus my grandson (he’s too young for the team as it’s middle-high school age and he’ll be 10 Sat).  He put on a small hitting clinic (hitting off the same tees as the rest of the boys) - one of the older kids called him a “coach”.  Worked in a few shots for myself - had the light bag: driver, 7w, 4 - 6 - 8 - Pw - Sw (DCI 962’s except the Sw a 981) and Zebra putter….got in some great tee shots, a couple of recovery and an awesome up and down for bogie: 55 yds out, hitting 4th shot due to 2nd getting tangled in limbs - see the window I need to hit for a tight spinner with the Sw - nail it to a postage letter distance from the cup for a tap in bogie….my kind of practice.
    • Day 21, April 29.  Before going to work this morning, I worked in my indoor practice room for 20 minutes.   This was entirely 6-iron shots with the usual step.  Video yesterday showed me that I'm still straightening my trail leg too much (leading to the backswing length issue I've been working to fix), so I focused on not doing that in my rehearsal swings.
