Jordan Spieth Back to Defend - Valspar Championship Tampa

Valspar Official Site

Jordan Spieth, 10 past winners of the Valspar Championship are in the field including Vijay Singh and Luke Donald, who also have been the top-ranked players in the world.  Henrik Stenson (#6) and Patrick Reed (#10) are two other players in the OWGR top 10 in the world in the field as are #11 Branden Grace, #15 Danny Willett and #16 Brandt Snedeker.

Looking forward to the annual walk around the course during practice rounds and a few early rounds for 2016.

Thanks for posting @RLM. I made a couple of edits so we don't get duplicate threads.

This tournament is at Innisbrook Resort (Copperhead), Palm Harbor, FL  with a  Purse of $6,100,000.

I predict Steven Bowditch is going from zero to hero this week.  You read it here (and probably nowhere else ever) first.

Well he is going to have to play better this week to get a $47K check

Ouch Jordan.

3 over already.   He needs to find his game and find it fast.

Now at +4, and a shot behind Bowditch (I'm pretty sure it is my fault; I started him on my fantasy team)

Kid needs to get it together.  Not a lot of time before the Masters.  I wonder how much the pressure is getting to him.

Bowditch with a +10...

Now I see why I lost my job as an odds-maker in Vegas.

the course, or weather, must be tough - with the morning flight almost done there are only 4 players at better than -1

Maybe Rory was right when he said he didn't think Jordan would be what he was in 2016. He would know after all. I'm sure it's hard to deal with being the guy in a sport especially in your early 20's. I think he will bounce back and get a few wins. As far as winning the Masters I wouldn't put money on it.

Rory said Jordan would falter?

And I wouldn't bet on him at Augusta either, but then again, I wouldn't be on Rory either.

Needs to ignore expectations and just get back to the same process and mindset of last year.

Spieth definitely off. I think the pressure is an issue. Sometimes when you go through a slump you try too hard to get it back and you end up going the other way. He just needs to relax and let it come back to him. Jason Day is going through the same problems this year. It's been a rough start for him. Rory's at least contended but hasn't been able to put 4 rounds together yet. If you include Fowler in that mix, he's been another one that seems to be having a hard time finishing.

Is Jordan still playing with the new AP2's?  If he is, he should consider going back to the old ones.

Maybe Spieth is still trying to recover from his trip to Asia. Day's tending to his newborn? Or relapse of vertigo? Mcilroy, I dunno. They could easily be playing well by The Masters though. No mention of The Big Three from the press now, but it'll be back in full force if they play well again. Gotta have a narrative.

What about Big Three 2.0? Scott, Watson, Rose?
