How does Day do in the wind? Not well, I'd have to imagine, with how high he hits it...

Also, anyone watching the DriveChipPutt contest? It's such a joy to watch those kids.

Not sure Day can play badly at the moment. Still likely to be top 5 whatever the weather. This is one of those years where I just can't see past the favourites - Day, McIlroy or Scott, for me. As with every major, I would love to think that Stenson, Westwood or Garcia will break their duck, but that's probably just a hope at Augusta (especially given the detriments of their games) :-(

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

From the looks of things, this Masters is gonna play a lot more like 2007 than 2015 when it was windy and cold and ZJ won with an over par score. 30+mph gusts expected Thursday and Friday. 15-20mph with cold temps on Saturday.

In fairness, it is an uphill drive and an approach to a green way below the brow of the hill. Still, a very cool round to see on Game Golf!

Would love to see Ricky break through and win a major this week.

Me too.  If I'm rooting for anybody in particular more than anybody else, it's him.  I was dead set on picking him in the contest thread too until I saw just how many people had already done so.

I'm rooting for one of the following - Rory, DJ, Rickster, or Day

I like Rickie this week given his ability to play well in windy conditions. I think those kind of player with low ball flight are going to do well. Rory is not so good a wind player and putts really poorly in those conditions so not sure I like his chances.

I hadn't thought of that.  Very true.

Glitterati TST member @Phil McGleno got some airtime on Live From The Masters this evening, re: The Golf Machine, vis a vis Bryson Dechambeau.

Both Frank and Brandel had some nice things to say although Brandel not quite as fawning as Frank was, which stands to reason.

Ummmmmm no.

"The expert golfer has maximum time to make minimal compensations. The poorer player has minimal time to make maximum compensations." - And no, I'm not Mac. Please do not PM me about it. I just think he is a crazy MFer and we could all use a little more crazy sometimes.

Does anyone know if CBS all access subscribers will be able to stream the weekend round coverage?  I see on the website they're showing featured groups and Amen corner on the cbssports site, but it doesn't say anything about the weekend CBS broadcast.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
