Eh, I just like everybody else in the top ten more.

Fair. I'm just glad Jordan isn't winning this again. I think he is all a facade.

I think this course didn't fit him either.

Yeah perhaps. To me he is a lot like Bubba. Once his attitude goes south towards a course, he plays himself out of it. His putter got the best of him this week along with misjudged approaches.

Phil's fate on the other hand was already decided before Thursday IMO. His disdain for this course ruined him before he even hit a shot. That and the fact that he strolled in late this week and didn't get many reps in on it. Too little time to adjust to the course and greens, along with a complete 180 post weather.

And Rory, I question if he can win on hard courses. His 4 majors were on soft tracks and easier setups relative to the norm.

That grass is long and I think you're allowed to touch the grass, just not the ground, right?

But yeah, I'd have been hovering my club a bit higher.

DJ's six footer for par on #8 was better than it looked.  Then again, I think most putts that find the bottom of the cup are good putts.

Jim Furyk with a good putt (see previous definition) on #17 for birdie.  Wow, if he can sit on a clubhouse lead...

Don't think -2 will be enough to get into a playoff or win but damn what a day for Furyk.

Nice par putt by Lowry there also...

Probably a little to late for Jim, but impressive round and finish.

I don't think it's too late for Furyk. If he can finish at -2 I think he's got a great chance, at least of getting into a playoff. Lots of tough holes to go for Lowry and DJ.

Maybe, but front 9 definitely harder than back 9.

The final 10 holes (9-18) are averaging 1.8 over par, so if these guys play those last 10 holes just at an average pace for today's players, they'd come back 2 strokes. Not unrealistic, I suppose. (I included 9, because that's playing 0.4 over par, and Johnson/Lowry haven't finished it yet).

    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.
    • Day 151 1-11 flow work today. I've been doing all pause work, so Inwanted to get some rhythm going. Recorded.
    • a) No b) This MLR says: I doubt the MLR is going to affect their weekly league games, in other words.
    • So the question was posed today by some of my friends.  Is a pitch mark the same as a divot?  I thought NO, but they argued if your ball lands in another player's divot (made by club during a swing) this was the same as a pitch mark, i.e. the ball mark made when the ball lands
    • Original definition use to or still is how far offline you hit it. It might be better to think of it as consistency in retaining favorable launch conditions to optimize distance.   That heat map showed a gigantic 0-3% loss in ball speed. That is absurd. The true 100% sweet spot is tiny for all clubs. Good luck telling the difference if the sweet spot is under 3% in a sizable area. Especially considering variation in launch angle, spin, and outdoor weather.
