I understand it more after the USGA's suggestion, but it's still an awful situation all around.

Agreed. They should add the penalty and give him a chance to get it removed after the round but before he signs.

Yup.

It's not a spot the USGA wants to be in but they're doing what they need to and that at the moment is fair to do rather than burying it.  I applaud them.

I bet you anything, despite most tour pros wanting to uphold the decency of being honest with the rules... when they see their ball move like this on these stupid fast greens they're going to just hit it. Nobody would EVER catch that ball movement unless they stand back and let everyone know...

I get enforcement of the rules, but this has just completely deflated the TV coverage and momentum of the tournament. They needed to make the call one way or another, not fart around for 2 more hours waiting for DJ to finish.

Also, is it too early to dub this "Move-gate"?
