I think at this point we'll probably just end up hanging out in the lounge here, drinking, eating, talking. Tonight.

Tomorrow still a go.

We need to find a mini-golf course somewhere nearby...and play with our 6-irons.

It's always a good time getting together with others from TST. One of these days I'll actually play well during an outing, ha! Definitely am with you on thanking @Rob Thompson and @iacas for putting this together. It's something I look forward to every year. The course was as nice as I remember, though a bit more soggy than last year, darn rain. I think we're due for nice sunny weather next year!

What a great time! Thanks again @iacas and @Rob Thompson for putting this together again. Course was in GREAT condition especially when you consider how much rain they got yesterday.

We also gained a new forumite in @Huge_Ditka

Had a great time this weekend, despite the crappy weather.  Rainout last night was salvaged by whiskey and card games at the Quality Inn (motto: "Don't be fooled by the name") with @Slice of Life, @saevel25 and @Huge_Ditka.

Enjoyed the round today with @Buckeyebowman, @Divot Master, and @GolfLug...who carried us to victory with the highest individual point total on the day.

Good fun as always.  Thanks to Rob and Erik for setting everything up!

Nice of the weather gods to hold the rain off for us today, although it would have been nice to play the course when it was firm and fast. It was kind of like playing in April, but you can't control the weather.

This was my first TST outing but, God willing, won't be my last.

And a video…

The final results:

1st 65 @dave s (33) Dennis
T2nd 64 @Slice of Life (33) @Huge_Ditka (31)
T2nd 64 @GolfLug (34, MVP) @Hardspoon (30)
4th 61 @georgep (29) @vasaribm (32)
5th 58 @Divot Master (30) @Buckeyebowman (28)
6th 56 @saevel25 (31) @Jeremie Boop (25)
7th 47 @voodoo (25) @mcanadiens (22)

Since 4 points (2 points for a net par, two players per team) is shooting your handicap, 72 points for a team of two on 18 holes is playing to your handicap, and 80% of that is 57.6 points.

Our teams averaged 59.3, so that's great!

The video was cool. It definitely is a great representation of the wide variety of swings we have as golfers.

Slightly off topic: I am thinking of trying to get up to Eagle Creek again this year to play. I seem to do fairly well on the front but both years struggled a bit on the back, plus I would love to play the course without getting rained on. It's a very nice course so it's definitely worth the little extra drive time over what I typically would spend going to Dayton. If I end up playing solo I may even see about doing a course vlog so that other people who haven't had the opportunity to play there can see more of the course. That said, anyone else who's interested is more than welcome to join.

@GolfLug nice round! It's been awhile since we played, but you look much closer to square at address than I remember. Have you made a conscious effort to stop hooding your clubs as much?

I believe he said he has. He still has to make more of an effort to manage his wrists and the backswing plane… But he knows this. ;-)

    • Yeah.  As far as remaining still, I was thinking body rotates around the spine like an axis.  Instead of pivoting, some like me, sway, come off that axis, leave weight on back foot, etc.
    • I apologize on behalf of… idiot men. Sorry about that. Next time, tell the guy to shut up. 😛  Day 553, May 8, 2024 18 holes from the whites with @rwolfe. Windy AF today, but hit some good shots. Slid back a little from where I was the previous two days, but… I can get it back. Made a pretty nifty birdie on 12 from some pretty odd places. 😄
    • The angles look fine. Get as much light as you can on the area — you want the highest shutter speed you can get. Less blur.
    • Snap @ Tour Spoon! Birdied 11 yesterday. Hit a poor iron ,stopped on edge of bunker , pitch with my lob wedge landed about 6’ away and went in. Only 12 & 14 to go, long par5’s into the prevailing wind. Might be waiting a while although I did have about 15’ on 12 after the birdie on 11, didn’t miss by much.
    • Tested the Maxfli TourS yesterday. Compared to my former ball, the Titleist AVX, I got an extra 10 yards off the driver and half a club (5-7 yards) off the irons. The combined extra yardage from the driver and fairway wood meant that on par-5s where I usually hit an 8-iron third shot, I hit a PW. It's just a smidgen softer than the AVX and seems to spin well. Some of the reviews indicated a low ball flight, but I did not notice it. I also did not observe any problems with the paint quality, which was an issue with previous Maxfli models up to and including the U series.  My previous round I tested the Bridgestone E6, a two-piece ball with a different cover. It was OK; the same distance and feel as the AVX but with less spin.
