I had my starter set of Tommy Armour 845's for probably 5 years before being fit for my current Ping G5's about 9 years ago. I still love them. Not sure I'd gain much buy updating or not.

I think I have been through 3 sets, one every three years. So I didn't vote. I have no plans to sell my current sticks... but I never do....

Well until recently I had only owned one set of irons, some knock off Ping Eye clubs I found used. They weren't horrible, shot an 83 using them once. But after a long hiatus of around a decade, I decided it was time to get fitted for some proper clubs. I did a Golfmsith fitting, which really is just hitting clubs until you find something that feels good. Ended up with a set of TM Speedblades HL which I've used for around the last year+. As my game and swing improved I thought it might be time for something different. I found a set of used Ping S55s with a stiffer shaft (KBS Tour 90) and I've really enjoyed them. They are harder to hit, but my misses are never anything a GI iron was ever going to really help.

This is a tough question for me. I replaced two sets of irons in the last two years but only because one set set got stolen. I don't really plan on replacing my current irons but I did buy a cheap set of older forged irons from Ebay just to play around with and have a back up set. Other than that I think it was close to 4 years or so that it was between iron set purchases and that was to go from some SGI irons to a more just GI set. I don't necessarily think I'll ever be good enough to purchase a set of "players" irons new so the older forged irons I bought will just have to do the trick.

I've been rockin' a set of knock-off Ping Karsten I irons since my dad gave them to me 20 years ago. I think he bought them in the early 80's. Every now and then I get the itch for new clubs, but I hit mine well most of them time.

None of the above.  I replace when I feel the need.  There is relationship to how long I may have owned or used them.  I've played a set for 10 years, and again only a couple of years.

I doubt that I'll ever replace the ones I'm playing now.  My game is no longer good enough to be rewarded with new irons which wouldn't make any difference in how well I play.

Thats my current thinking. Been playing a set of kzg irons/wedges (matrix shafts) I got from a local club fitter two years ago. I won't replace them unless broken or stolen. Then only one off.

Games been improving and they feel very comfortable

Have so far only ever used irons bought second-hand (mostly from ebay). I currently play with Titleist 690 MB's and love them. I recently found another set on ebay with the heads in very good condition, and I intend to treat myself to getting them properly fitted (I am 6'6", so I want to see if playing shafts which are actually fitted for my height will do anything to help my game (something has to!). I reckon I will stick with them for a long, long time.

I don't replace them on any regular basis.  The only reason I replaced my Mizuno MP68 set ~3 years ago was because I got an unbelievable deal on Yonex EZBlades.  I got the new set at whole sale cost because one of my cousins has a friend who works at Yonex in Los Angeles and can get one set every year at cost.  It was about 1/3 of MSRP so I couldn't pass.

I doubt I will replace these any time in the foreseeable future.

Every set of irons I buy seem to go bad after about 2 years...oddly enough they seem to be in opposite years that I need to replace my driver...weird.

I have never actually replaced my irons but rather added to my collection. :-D

I started with some Ping Eye 2's and then added in some Ping ISI's.  I like the BeCu and BeNi clubs.

I then added in some Miura's and really like that forged iron feel.  Recently I added in some Mizuno's and like the feel of them as well.

I guess I will never need to replace any... I just grab whatever set fits my eye that day and hit the links!

Curious what you mean by they go bad every two years.  I have some old stuff that is still good and playable so how can irons go bad?

they run out of good shots, they tend to start missing left, they aren't as pretty as they once were...there are new ones at the store that go longer and never get off line...

I have been playing the same set for about 10 or 11 years now. I am finally thinking about getting something new. I really like my current irons and will keep them but I am just getting that itch for something new. Long story short...I don't replace regularly. I do it more off feel and just that "want to."

I buy a "new" set of used irons every 4-5 years.  That is purely for "replacement" purposes . . .although I may buy clubs off schedule just because I want to . .that doesn't count, lol.

Ahhhh, I get ya now.  Nothing worse than irons running low or out of good shots.

A quick stop a Jiffy Golf before each round to top off my clubs usually fixes any issues I have.

I played golf for 20 years with 2 sets of irons.  I abandoned the 2i - 6i in my early 60's in favor of hybrids but still use my 15 year old Titleist DCI O/S 7i - PW and have no plans to change them or my hybrids unless I lose or break one, or there is some incredible positive change in technology.  When I finally get the time, my money will be better spent on lessons, practice, and playing.

obviously you have bought into the accountability myth...it is the arrow not the archer!! Next thing you know you are going to tell me that missed putts aren't due to poorly maintained greens....please stop the madness!!
