Sklz swing trainer. Feel lag, sequence and deliver from inside.

7 iron feet together swing around body and try to get club to snap thru without arms. Spread feet and repeat with "Y" swing and then again with "L" swing

Finally, pump drill with full swing. Try to slow swing to achieve lag and natural whip thru. Tension in hands from pump seems to promote fast swing

Repeat excersize with driver. 13 correct swings before each sequence is considered done. Fail one swing and go back to zero

1/23: Walked 10 holes this evening after work, shot 12 over. Just couldn't get a par putt to fall.

Heading out right after work with no warm up has caused a little trouble early on, seems to take a few holes to find a good swing. Today I started off using a "flighted" 3/4 shot like the post below:

Worked really well, right off the bat. I used the swing several times in the round, with everything from a pitching wedge to my 5 iron. I like it a lot, but I need to hit the range to work out yardages.

1/24: Hit the range at lunch today. Practicing and measuring 3/4 "flighted" shots with PW-5 Iron. Crisp, straight, and consistent with PW-8. Started slicing them a bit with the 7-5 irons. I was probably going a little fast, since it was my lunch hour, and I noticed it was very easy to get lazy with the shot and I think I started swaying back again on the backswing. Will have to take some video soon and work on the shot in slow-mo.

1/24: Got out to the range in the morning. Bit windy and chilly, but it'll do for January! Took video and submitted to Evolvr, with my last piece in mind. Had a bit of difficulty getting those feels that I've had from the daily practice here at the house (flat left wrist mainly). But I THINK I saw some improvement. Of course, now that I'm back home, I can't believe I didn't remember better at the range some of the breakthroughs I've had here in my foyer! :~(

Sklz trainer. Slow long, lag swings

7 iron, short sweeps with feet together and wrists loose to feel turn and whoosh thru, Y swings with feet farther apart and loose wwrist and whoosh brush thru, L swing same drill.with normal stance

pump swings with 7 iron. Felt my right hand laying down more and doing less work

Same routine with driver. Helps to stop if can't complete repititiions with whoosh thru and start from zero doing it more slowly to make each one count

scheduking lesson number 2 with Erika Larkin for Feb. 11. Need to show some change

Back to the daily practice. Mirror work on Key 2.

Working on key 2. I'm not shifting my weight properly because my "natural flaw" is coming back to bite me. Going to continue work on my hip flexibility as well as flaring out my feet. My stance was also too narrow and it led me to making a center pivot that was too vertical.

Did some mirror work in front of my office window which is like a mirror early in the morning and late at night. Got my PVC pipe "golf club", and am checking key point.

My hip muscles start getting stiff and that's when my swing gets really bad. So, I'm developing some hip loosening stretches and "range of motion" exercise for my particular situation.

some early morning wall drills and mirror work.  I should get a chance to hit some balls into the net this evening, working on my current evolvr priority of keeping my head still on the down swing.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
