Sure, why not?

I've eaten brownies made from black beans and things like that. Red velvet cake used to be made from beets. Or still is?

It's just using the cockroaches to make a flour. They're finely ground into a powder.

Spoiler

Though some chefs did use beet juice to get somewhat of a red tint to the cake. The original recipe never called for beet juice. The true vibrant red tint is from food coloring.

I agree, I would not willingly eat that. I hate cockroaches.

As long as the cockroaches are organically-grown, free-range, low in sodium, gluten-free, and above all WANT to be ground into flour...I'm okay with it.

I'd try it. Lots of cultures eat bugs and I can see this as a good way to supplement people's diets, especially in poorer areas of the world.

I remember reading about insect farming being the sustainable protein source of the future and it makes total sense. They'll probably add it to processed foods as a supplement and people would eat it because let's be honest, most people don't really know where their food comes from anyway.

Wouldn't eat cockroaches but these chips made with flour containing cricket protein are relatively tempting.

Rumor is that roaches have been around for millions of years and could survive a nuclear disaster.   Sounds quite a bit like a Twinkie but I still wouldn't eat them.

While I wouldn't do it, insects are a dietary staple in many cultures around the world. I remember a hunting/fishing/ outdoor adventure show years ago that featured a tall, good looking blonde. One show took place in SE Asia and they went to an outdoor market with hot food stalls. They went to check one out and the girl says, "Oh, look what they have. Deep fried bugs!"

And oh BTW, if you've ever eaten canned veggies, you HAVE eaten insect body parts! Also some rodent hairs! Small amounts of both are permitted as per Federal regulations.

There are some good arguments in the article for eating bugs. But with so many insects in the world, why do we need to incorporate the singularly most disgusting one ?

I use old Taylor Made clubs from eBay and golf shops.

I bet people eat far more disgusting things than that in random hotdogs or sausages.  I probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat cockroach food but if it comes down to that or starvation I'm pretty sure I'd broaden my palette.

Yes, I agree that insects should be part of our diet. They are highest in protein gram for gram and ounce for ounce. That said, I  am passing on roaches. I could handle crickets, but not roaches. I hate roaches, especially the ones here in Florida (like the person who rented us our first apartment refered to them) they try and call palmetto bugs. F. U. lady, that's a jumbo cockroach!!

I believe up to 6 maggots are allowed per every standard can of sliced mushrooms. Mmmmmm.

    • Okay, so in a golf shop and to my surprise I see a Cleveland Smart Sole Chipper in the used bin. Its the same chipper Mark Crossfield went ga ga over a few years back. It's in the used bin, but it still has the plastic on the grip and still has the plastic on the head. 39 bucks. ... So, for roughly the price my sister pays for coffee I can get the chipper Mark Crossfield says everyone should stick in their bag.  So, thirty seven dollars and sixty three cents later that bad boy is all mine. (BTW - I asked the guy what the best he could do on it and he said 35 bucks. ... Always ask what's the best they can do on clubs out of the used bin. They will nearly always take a couple dollars off for you.)  Anyway, I brought it home and tested it first in the basement. I skulled my first shot... and my second... Hmm.... I must be doing something wrong. I got back and watch the Mark Crossfield video.  I take the thing to the course. ... I'm excited to try it out. ... I skull far more than my fair share. I thought you weren't supposed to be able to miss hit this thing.  Apparently, I suck at chippers, Which is weird, because I'm a descent chipper with "normal" clubs. Anyone who's played with me will tell you I can be wildly inconsistent off the tee. I can tug a wedge shot with the best of them. I can miss 4 foot straight uphill putts. I can top a 3-wood. But my chipping is generally pretty solid. Shotscope tells me I'm better than a 5 HCP chipping.  WTH - I thought these were supposed to be easier to use???  I have a buddy who actually does suck at chipping. I'm going to have him try it and see what happens.
