Have never seen this before, came up as a recommendation on a Facebook post. It actually looks decent, but the separate parts can be lost and look cheap and there's no landscape option. Had to laugh at the video where she brings out the biggest tripod ever.

There are member reviews from a year or so back for a competing product, the Stable Stick, that was less expensive and came with a bluetooth adapter for use for this.  I use it for some evolvr videos.

Landscape is unnecessary for recording a golf swing. My main concern is that I have a cart bag and this will do nothing for me on a day (any that ends in "y") where I have a hard time keeping the bag upright.

I'm still looking for a good smartphone holder that will attach to my tripod and hold the phone in portrait mode. TBH I haven't looked in a while. Tripod has the added benefit of being more stable in the wind.

Yeah, the more I look at this, the more I think I could jury-rig a selfie stick to do this.  And there are smartphone clips that are decent as well. $20 seems like a more reasonable price. Such a crowded market.

Or worse yet. . .

The real question for me is which 3D printer and what material do I want to print it? Either way less than a $1.00 in material and about 3 hours on the printer. :-D

Since the truth is out, I was thinking of making a SelfieGolfClip-like design an putting it on Thingiverse or similar sharing site.

Still a great idea!

This is what I have and it works well in either landscape or portrait.

I'd buy it if it was $20.

I agree with this. I'd get one if it was around 20 bucks... not worth it to me at nearly $40.

I would just ask the old woman at the range to take a video for me, and after she says Of Course, I'd say, "Thanks. Hey, I guess they're right. Senior citizens, although slow and dangerous behind the wheel, can still serve a purpose. I'll be right back. Don't you go dying on me!"

For real though, seems a little pricey for a plastic clip.  I don't imagine it would be too difficult to rig something up for couple $ and some good old duct tape.

That's a good idea. Just noticed it's $24 on Amazon now.

I use a GorillaPod attached to my golf bag or a railing.  GorillaPod has the benefit you can also use it as a stand and attach it to pretty much anything.  I've used it for golf, video conferences, biking and never had a problem.

    • Going to a Friendsgiving tomorrow and I am bringing a no-bake cheesecake. I make the crust too big, but I think it turned out good. The filling is really good.
    • Sure, but how was your alignment? 🙂 Day 53 - 2024-11-22 Mirror work after getting back home. Wife is a superstar for her career/job/whatever.
    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
    • Day 128: played 9. Nice little even 9, with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys.
    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
