Your Day with the (Newport) Cup! (2017 Edition)

Not sure if this is where I'm supposed to post pictures with the Newport Cup Trophy, but now that I've handed it off to @DaveP043 after having a couple of beers with him and his lovely wife Mary Anne at the Union Street Pub.  

Here is the after golf festivities at the Hickory Tavern enjoying a nice IPA.

Getting ready to leave the condo and hit the road home.

 

On my way to one of my favorite restaurant near my office, Sweetwater Tavern.

And lastly on our back deck after the snow, end of the golf season.  

And now it has been passed to Dave.  He has the picture of the passing of the torch, so to speak. Again, the Newport Cup was a blast, I can't reiterate enough at how great an event this was. 

Thanks again to  @iacas and @mvmac for putting this together and to all my playing partners, @coachjimsc @DaveP043 @bkuehn1952 @cipher @NCGolfer, it couldn't have gone better and to all our playing opponents, @phillyk @Pretzel @Golfingdad @DeadMan @mchepp @kpaulhus it was a pleasure meeting you all and the golf was awesome.  I look forward to  getting to see you all in the future.

I ran into @DaveP043 last Saturday at our annual B-Team Captains meeting.  Hopefully he'll post something soon.

Its been a long time since I got the cup, and even longer since I got to play golf in Virginia.  @jsgolfer met Mary Anne and I for lunch, to pass along the trophy, back just after Thanksgiving.

It was like Christmas had come early:

Since then, the Cup has been staying nice and dry, in spite of the rather liquid winter we've been having:

The Cup even got to spend a little time with the other trophies in the house, some of mine, most belonging to Mary Anne;

But now its time for the Newport Cup to move along to the next member of the East Team. @coachjimsc, @cipher, @NCGolfer, @bkuehn1952, I'll happily box it up and send it along.  I'd suggest that maybe Dave or Jim would be the best direction, at least they have a good chance to get outside soon.  Just send me your mailing address, and I'll get it on the road!  Thanks again to everyone, the captains, my teammates, our worthy opponents, and everyone on TST who made this such a great time.

It's not too often a Newport Cup team member let alone an East (Blue hair) teammate comes within an hour of where I live to play golf. So of course I have to make an effort to play with him.

And that’s exactly what @jsgolfer and I did at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor in Ninety Six, SC.

 I also brought the Newport Cup with me to take a few photo ops.

My tee shot on the par 3 hole #4. 5 iron from 180 yds and missed the putt.

18th hole par 5. Our birdie putts. Jerry is closer.

A great time and great company. Looking forward to seeing Jerry again soon.

The next trip will be to meet up with @NCGolfer in the Charlotte area to play a round and pass on the Cup.

Thanks for posting that for me @jsgolfer. We were in a hurry to get back in there. We were very lucky to be parked about 60 yards from where that picture was taken.

So I was curious @iacas, has the NC ever been to the front gate of a major before?

It's been to the site of a major, but not during the major. You can claim "firsts" for that one!

@jsgolfer, I am in possession of the Newport Cup.  It came to me while I was out at Pebble last weekend.  Will post some pics soon.  I have some ideas but it might be a little bit before I can get them.
