Oh I know it's tough, I'm just venting over what could have been.... Boy 15 and 17 killed him this week.

I think you mean 15 and 16.  He’s +4 on 15 for the week, +3 on 16, but he was E on 17 for the tournament.

15 and 16 are the difference between him being T11 and T1 right now, lol.

EDIT:  Actually, my mistake, he’s +5 on 15 so a total of +8 for the week on 15 and 16.

Great to hear words of wisdom from Jack Nicklaus, sitting in the booth today.

Even par 70 today for Woods.

Yea, there must be a million pro v1s in a watery mass grave short right of that green.

Hmmm, I wonder how good night diving is there.

Congrats to Web.com player Sam Burns who was paired with Woods today; he ended up beating Tiger by 2 shots (68 to 70). He'll have a great story to tell his potential kids & grandkids now.

Great interview with Sam after the round by Amanda Balionis.

Alex Noren posts -7, will it hold up? Playoff perhaps?

Thomas & List also at -7 with 2 holes to play.

Yea besides the aforementioned gator infestation, I'm sure there are numerous redneck diving teams from nearby Loxahatchee that vie for squatter's rights to that spot :-D

That he played with the GOAT and beat him in one round?

List & Thomas off the tee at 18. Birdie wins, or 2 birdies for a playoff, or 2 pars and a 3 way playoff?

What an exciting finish this is setting up to be. Great players playing great shots on a great course. Who doesn't love this?

Two birdies - List and Thomas headed to a playoff at -8

Sure. A 21 year old Web.com regular gets paired with Tiger Woods on a Sunday and beats him head to head by 2 shots. Pretty dream worthy stuff if you ask me. Seems like you're trying to downplay it, not sure why.

If I played with the GOAT and beat him in one round, I wouldn't tell my grand kids. I would write a seven volume book series and have it published in 47 languages. :-D

Regarding Tiger, this is a remarkable performance by a golfer aged 40+, who has been away from competitive golf for however many years due to debilitating injury. It is truly remarkable.

I am not a "hater." My complaint has always been that, in instances like this, whoever actually wins this thing will be a one sentence byline, on page 7, below the fold, compared to the pages and pages and pages scrutinizing Tiger's performance.

But maybe that's just a Tiger's privilege. Or maybe it's a Goat's hard-earned privilege.

Good luck to Justin Thomas, a fine young player. It would be nice to see another Major in his future this year.

Birdie on 1st playoff hole wins it for Justin Thomas. Oh so close to a first win for Luke List - surely there will be a win somewhere in his future if he can continue to play like he did this week.

Thanks for correcting my mistake. Wow, His numbers on those 2 holes were even worse then I thought. Didn't it seem like each day was a replay of the prior one(s)?  He was on his way to a really good round and into the mix, then. aagh

I like Thomas also. A lot. He and Spieth look like they're going to give us a show the next few years.

    • This. Whatever your longest iron is where you won't be in the trees a high percentage of the time. If that's shorter than 7i (as in, you'll have to hit a longer iron for your approach bringing trees back into play with high probability), I agree you're better off getting closer. But again play the percentages. If your 3w or 5w dispersion is solidly narrower than your driver, hit those. But some people hit driver straighter, so whatever gives you the highest probability of not being in the trees.
    • Essentially find the longest club you can hit straight and go with that off the tee.  You want the shortest shot into the green for your second.  If that is the hybrid or 7i or even PW, go with that.  You lose a lot more by being OB and having to re-tee
    • @TxGolfDude I’m curious as to how long this ‘repeatable swing’ has lasted. Not to be a Debbie Downer, but we all know how cruel the Golf Gods can be. I too have had quite a golf swing journey. Unfortunately, when it comes to the golf swing I have zero natural talent. Nothing about it feels comfortable or natural. The grip? I’ve done them all and it still feels like I’m holding a knotted oak branch. The proper take away feels awkward and weak. Arms in a proper position, asinine and no feel of any power. I’ve had times where I think I’ve developed an acceptable swing with handsome ball striking for months only to fall apart. So, how long have you had this swing working for ya?
    • How come the marked shots on the picture add up to 366 yards and the label says 325? Are you playing it at 325? In any case, that hole is narrow with a capital NARROW. If those woods are lost ball territory, then I think you hit from the tee whatever club is accurate enough that you'll be able to hit the fairway "most" of the time. That could even be a wedge potentially, especially depending on how restrictive the trees back near the tee are. I might seriously consider playing this hole as 8 iron 6 iron or so. There's more room up by the green than the fairway, so save the longer club for the second shot.
