Rory was on fire today, posting an 8 under 64 (low score of the week) to vault all the way up from making the cut on the number to 4th place currently.

Woods, on the other hand still can't make a putt. So far today he's missed 3 straight very good chances at birdie on #2,3, and 4 of 11 feet, 9 feet, and 4 feet.

Tiger is just striping it right now, at least at 2013 level, maybe better. If the putter gets going, he’s gonna light this course up. I smell another birdie coming here.

This is from yesterday, can't find anything from today's round.

Holy cow, he's 2 off the lead.

And now Woods is back doing what he should be doing - making putts, Eagle - Birdie - Birdie. Made putts of 14 feet, 10 feet, and 3 feet. He'd be leading easy if he was dropping putts like that all week.

This could get really interesting tomorrow.

I finally got around to changing the Twitter timeline. With the Best tweets enabled, TT's tweets became a big mess.

Rory, Rose, Cantlay, SLIG, Day, Scotland, Tiger. I hope Sunday will be a real shootout and that Tiger makes the final group. Just three-putted 16 though. That's not helping.

The putter continues to hold Woods back. Four more good looks at birdie on holes 8-14 (12 feet, 15 feet, 20 feet, and 4 feet) all missed. Then on #16 he 3 putts for bogey again (that's 3-4 times this week he's done that).

Woods finishes the day with another 3 putt bogey on #18. Two of the final 3 holes = 3 putt bogey.

Yeah, that’s his glaring weakness right now. And yet he’s T8.

I've said it before, dude needs an Edel and an Aimpoint class.

What a disappointing finish, with two three-putts in the last three holes.

Stroked gained after three rounds:
Off the tee: 67
Approach to green: 1
Around the green: 2
Putting: 80
Tee to green: 1

Most of the SG putting comes from round two, but also lost strokes today.

Still within reach, but might need a low round tomorrow. Everyone in front of him got holes left. Could of course make some bogies as well as birdies.

I didn't see Woods post round comments, is he happy with 8th? Happy with his putting? Sounds like you are.

He's not happy with it. Said it was the highest he could have shot. Not taking advantage of the way he's hitting it. Struggled with speed control coming down the stretch today.

I doubt Erik means he's happy with his putting when it's a "glaring weakness". He's T8 in spite of his putting and because he's doing well in other facets.

No, I don't think anyone's happy with his putting.

Just want to see Tiger put it all together again. But at least if something’s off I’d rather it be his putting than tee shots or approaches.

The nice takeaway is that Tiger has putted well this season so there is potential for him to have the complete package at some point.

How in the hell does what I wrote “sound like” I’m happy with his putting?

If I putted for him this week he’d be leading by four.

    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
    • This is my opinion as well. I would love to see the LPGA take the lead on this.    This.
    • I agree in general. The one way in which the viewer will notice the pace of play is just that "it's been an hour and Nelly Korda or Scottie Scheffler have only played four holes." Or if for some reason they show a lot of shots of players just standing around when they could be showing golf shots. But I think Andy Johnson said it most recently/best, playing fast is a skill, too. I would love for pro golfers to play faster. You'd see the players you want to see hit more shots in the same time than they do now. So I don't disagree with the pace of play stuff, and hope they can find ways to do it. Heck, the LPGA should leap at the chance to differentiate itself in this way, IMO. So: I stand by what I said in that the TV viewer really doesn't notice much about pace of play. It's rare when they do. I support increasing the pace of play wholeheartedly. But my top five reasons don't include TV ratings or viewership.
