It's 1-1 and France hasn't scored yet.

That's not a penalty. Terrible decision for the game.

Don't see how he could not have called it. It wasn't that hard to get his hand out of the way.

The first goal, Griezmann looked like he took a dive.

Not just looked like, he was falling before contact was ever made.

A bit of an anticlimactic match. First half and up to 60 minutes was intense, then the 3-1 put a damper on Croatia. France were very efficient, but in my opinion got help from the ref for at least one goal, maybe two.

It was an exciting game to watch.   I thought the best team in the tournament won but then again, I thought Belgium was the second best team...;-).     It was great to see so much exciting soccer.

In two years the women play in France and in four years the men play....Qatar...(where the average.....average July temperature is 95º in July.   On the pitch the temperatures will be around 120º or higher.   I guess money can buy almost anything.   Nobody in their right mind would have allowed the world cup to play there in July..

Qatar will be played in November - December, usually 30 degrees Celsius.

Apparently...you can't go wrong putting your little all on whatever team N'golo Kante is suiting up for.

Good final to wrap up a good tournament, the best World cup in quite some time I think.

England getting 4th is a solid result for a young team , given we haven't done well in this for a long time. Let's hope we can further in the next Euros.

Curious - those who watched the US broadcast - what did you think of the announcing? What about the post game show - World Cup Tonight?

World Cup Tonight - I couldn't understand Hiddink some of the time. The female analyst who was a former player was good, I learned the most from her. Tony Meola was ok. The book writer Grant W something kind of reminded me of the guy (Rosaforte) in golf who gets all the rumor mill stuff.

Don't know enough about football to really comment on the match announcing.

For the final, the had on the set a prior Russian coach.   He really wasn't interested in being there and it showed when he announced "when does the game start" and almost got up to leave.   His english was very broken and difficult to understand.   The mexican announcers were very good.   I like Rob Stone and Alexi Lalas.   Both are very knowledgeable and entertaining.   Some of the pregame and post game stuff was good, some not so good.

Overall better than Peter Kostis

I feel the same way about them that I do about the announcers of the golf tournaments that people can get so riled up about ... and that is, whatever.  I didn't love them, I didn't hate them, I'm not watching for them either way, and nothing they do or don't do is going to have that big of an effect on my enjoyment of whatever activity/sport it is that I'm watching.  (That said, I think Arlo White doing the Premier League on NBC is great)

Another exception to my "rule" is listening to Nick Shulman or Antonio Esfandiari commentate on poker.  I stopped watching poker a long time ago after the novelty wore off but have started watching again lately because listening to those two guys (or really, any well spoken professional player for that matter) explain to me what is likely going through the minds of the players as the hands are going fascinates me greatly.

    • I’d go with the Titleist if you liked the look of the blades but were suffering with distance. They should be a little more forgiving than a full blade and still retain some workability. Also remember to consider the shafts each have as this will be a big contributor to how they feel. Clemsonfan is right though… get fit or spend a bit of time on a launch monitor 🤙
    • Day 28: 2026.01.30 Managed to make time for a few swings out back today. Need a proper bit of range time this weekend.
    • Day 30, 1/30.  Six minutes this morning hitting a few more range balls, indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Did this before leaving the house.

    • Hi All my New Year’s resolution was to start playing golf again. I’ve caught the bug and am really enjoying hitting balls at a couple of my local ranges.looking forward to getting back out on courses in the spring. Based in the UK and 38 years old, I’ve been playing since I was a kid. Best handicap I’ve held is 2 in my mid 20s. Over the past 10 years I’ve played once or twice a year, sometimes with friends or for work. Could shoot 4-5 over, but just as easily shoot 15-20 over. I’ve moved to South Wales and am very lucky to be near some world class links courses, which gives me even more motivation to get playing again! I will start looking for a local coach in my area when I have more time to invest, but I recalled scouring this forum a few years ago and finding some good tips and advice so wanted to give it a try to see if there were any glaring issues I could fix in the meantime!  A few swings below… one from 1st week Jan and one from today. I have fixed my P1 takeaway to my liking and am now working on what I see as pretty severe early extension & hip thrust. Also terrible hip rotation. I’d like confirmation that this is indeed a problem and and suggestions on a few good drills. Thanks for reading 🙂 I've been Playing Golf for: 30+ years My current handicap index or average score is: 10ish over My typical ball flight is: mid The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: push right with irons, hooks and push with driver!  Videos:
