I am 70 year old 8 index. I hit my 52 degree wedge 100 yards. In theory if I hit 25 balls to a pin 100 yards away how close should the majority land, forget about roll. In other words what disbursement should I expect? What % of distance is an acceptable off target %?

I renamed the title, as "disbursement" is a payment. I think you mean "dispersion."

I don't have the specific stats for everything that specific (age, club, handicap, distance), but I can tell you that PGA Tour players average about 5.5% of the distance: so from 100 yards, they hit the ball to about 5.5 yards.

You… should probably be about 10%. So, within about 30 feet, on average. That means you'll stick one now and then, but you're also gonna miss the green entirely sometimes.

And that's just off the top of my head.

I read some where that the pros on average miss the cup by 15' from 100 yards.

A 10 hcp, on average, misses the cup by 22' feet from 100 yards.

Both were measured from fairway lies. Both of these dispersion numbers also took into account misses being on line, but also being short, and long of the 100 yard mark. No one, the article stated hits their 100 yard club exactly 100 yards every time. I don't know how accurate those numbers, since I don't know how they were arrived at.

Myself, I miss 100 yard shots, on average, by about 18' feet from a good fairway lie. Out of the rough, or bunker, I can miss the whole green, and usually do.

Farther than that, really:

Midpoint of 75-100 and 100-125 is 18'6".

It's probably closer to the 10 yards I wrote above. 30'.

I think you have to differentiate between good and bad misses.  I can miss on the low side and feel good about it; whereas parking it 20 feet above the pin doesn't make me happy at all.  The near-green concept, from LSW, is a great help in this regard.  Sure...we would all like to stick it every time; but that does not, and is not, going to happen.  Too much focus on proximity to the pin, and too little on what kind of challenge you've left yourself, can foment a lot of needless anxiety.

What about a 20 cap? Percentage-wise what would you say the average dispersion of the total distance is? 20%? 25%? Asking for a friend....

I am not considering roll out. That varies a lot depending on many factors. I guess I am not that bad as I seem to usually land the ball within 25 feet of my target. Where it goes after that is another issue.

I don't know about dispersion but according to Game Golf, a 10 hdcp hits the green from 100 yards 62% of the time with a 5 hdcp hitting the green 67% of the time.

These kinds of discussions among ams always entertain me. Like they're that good!

Sorry! But my short game prowess isn't sufficient for me to aim above the hole rather than below! I'm just happy to get it anywhere on the green!

I can aim above, below, right or left of the hole. Can I land it there, yes within 25 feet most of the time of my target. Then it rolls somewhere else usually 3 to 7 feet.

He may not be counting the thins, chunks and duff shots. Maybe it's only shots that hit the green. If I am off the green, or on the fringe, I don't really register the proximity. When the ball is on the green, I register how far it is.

Similar to aimpoint.. my dispersion it´s around 2 fingers rigth/left of my target from 100 yards 90% of the times. Around 2,5 fingers rigth/left on short/mid irons and 3 fingers with long irons/hybrid and go to driver. Also 4 fingers rigth/left when I go for it with driver. All of them with 20 yards of dispersion longer/shorter of the target.
It´s easier that way.
